I enjoyed an excellent night's stay at the Imperial (Saturday 10 August 2019). This appears to be a family-run hotel set in a beautiful building, full of character. There is a small car park at the front but i'm told there is also some parking at the rear. The hosts are really friendly and accommodating and i was personally shown to my room on arrival. The room was spotlessly clean and provided at a very competitive price.
There is a bar in a cosy room on the ground floor which, despite it being small, offers something for everyone. The bar was wonderfully quiet, allowing me to relax and read whilst i waited for a friend to arrive a couple of hours later. It was refreshing not to hear continuous background music or unnecessary TV on in the background just for the sake of it. The only sound was the friendly chat of one of the owners.
At £2.90 for a 500ml bottle of ale you really can't go wrong and it makes a nice change not to get ripped off in a hotel bar as you would in any chain establishment. The breakfast area is also on the ground floor which again had something for everyone. A tasty full English breakfast was provided which appeared promptly and was good quality.
In summary, the whole service felt quite personalised, they take the time and interest to ask about you and what you are doing here. This contrasts so differently to the cold, sometimes clinical nature of the service at big chain hotels. I think it speaks volumes that this hotel doesn't even have any 1 or 2 star reviews on google. Given how difficult some people can be, you expect every place to have a few bad reviews but these guys don't! I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great...
Read moreMy partner and I had the opportunity to stay at the Imperial Plymouth for a night due to a local appointment, and must say, it was an excellent experience. Located right in the hustle and bustle of Plymouth, the location couldn't be more central. Parking was straightforward with options either on site or at a nearby car park.
The welcome was warm and genuine; a lovely touch from the lady at reception made us feel right at home from the off. Swift check-in was appreciated, and being shown to our room was a nice personal touch. Speaking of the room, it was very comfortable, tastefully decorated in soothing neutrals, spotlessly clean, and radiating warmth on a chilly day. We found ourselves with a very restful night's sleep. Breakfast was lovely, catering to a variety of tastes with both continental and traditional cooked options. It's the kind of place where requesting something as simple as poached eggs on toast is no trouble at all, as its all cooked to order.
In all honesty, we wouldn't hesitate to return to the Imperial Plymouth. It's certainly somewhere we...
