I’ve been to this place more than 10 times because of its convenience to my errands. I stopped temporarily after meeting the manager. She is the rudest most covert passive aggressive racist I’ve met so far. Absolutely lacks any form of respect or tolerance for anyone other than those who look like her. Without reason, she would completely ignore me and speak to the white person who came in after me. If I tried to get a table she would purposely have me wait by telling me there are no tables available but proceed to seat the next customer without a reservation. The last time she did that I waited almost 40 mins with my child whom I wanted to treat and they weren’t even busy as it was during the week. There’s a staff there that I’m friends with so I gave it another chance. I decided to start making reservations before going in to see if it was just me imagining things and even then the first thing she would say as soon as she acknowledged me siting wouldn’t be “hi” or “ “how are you” as she would with other customers but “there are no seats available”. The last time she did this I even had a reservation but she didn’t even bother to ask. Even her fellow staff member looked on at her in disappointment. Such a pity because apart from the occasional discovery of stuff floating in my water (happened 3times), the other staff are actually pleasant and the food is good. But at some point self respect has to come in. Why would I continue to pay a someone to put me down and punish me with unprovoked discrimination to make me feel inferior or uninvited in a public space that even unbehaved dogs are warmly welcomed into.If you’re in business do business and atleast try to be a decent...

I have tried almost everything at this place. The amazing almond croissants and coffee is worth travelling to Southsea from London. The host was so amazing that they agreed to make a sugar free cake for us which turned out great :)
Usually busy so would recommend booking in advance
I recently visited Southsea Café and had a fantastic experience. this café offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing. The décor is modern yet cosy, with plenty of seating, making it a great spot for any weather.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in. They greeted me with a smile and were happy to offer recommendations from the menu. The service was prompt, even though the café was quite busy at the time.
The menu itself is impressive, offering a great variety of options, from hearty breakfasts to light lunches and delicious homemade cakes.. The coffee was rich and smooth, clearly made with high-quality beans.
One of the standout features of Southsea Café is its focus on fresh, their in house items, which really elevates the quality of the food. The portion sizes were generous, offering great value for money.
The café’s relaxed vibe, combined with its delicious food and friendly staff, makes it an ideal spot for breakfast, brunch, or a casual coffee break. Whether you're a local or just visiting Southsea, I highly recommend stopping by Southsea Café for a memorable and satisfying dining experience. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI hate that I was so disappointed ☹️ my partner booked this for our anniversary breakfast at the end of June. I’d been in a few times before coffee and whilst the coffee was only ever okay, it was always so busy and nearly always fully booked we thought we would try for breakfast. I was really disappointed by the fact the menu didn’t offer any nutritional guidance - I completely understand this is triggering for some people but the option of being offered a menu with/without calories would have been nice so I could have made an informed choice; I ended up choosing something I didn’t really want because I couldn’t work out the calorie content of anything on the menu. The coffee was honestly average at best; I asked for syrups and they didn’t offer any and that is the first coffee shop I have ever been to that didn’t offer syrups! The staff were lovely but just a tad overbearing, for a 40 minute breakfast we were checked on at least 4 or 5 times which in theory is fantastic but just felt a little much. My partner told me he had written in the special requests that it was our anniversary but said the girl didn’t even check the booking which again isn’t a major issue as it’s a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot as opposed to a dinner restaurant so not sure what they could have ‘done’ for our anniversary. Overall I’m not sure I would return which is a shame as the restaurant is beautiful and I really like the vibe, just slightly...
