Boswells Cafe — Restaurant in Reading

Used to be my fav restaurant but I agree with some of the other comments, changing staff from better to worse. The breakfast was one of the best in town now it’s average at best. Chef can’t cook porridge to save there life. One breakfast I ordered some additions to find three separate side dishes with my order not on the same plate. I also agree with the jacket potato comment. I expect a decent salad snd decent filling. Instead of the usual larger plate before the changes snd nice salad of coleslaw lettuce, carrot etc, two salad leaves and two tomatoes. The filling about one table spoon of chilli if you were lucky. On a whole the food is bland which never used to be the case. As a chef for eight years the standard of most restaurants when it comes to food has notably dropped...

Went in for a coffee and breakfast. So you have to order the food separately then queue up for 15 mins to order your coffee and pay as there is only 1 till. You then have to stand in the corner for 20 mins to wait for your drinks before you can even take a seat. Breakfast took 25 mins to come out which was toast. I don’t get it why take food order first then queue up??? I could even hear a lady asking if she can just have the food she ordered 30 mins ago for her child as he was hungry and the rest can come later. All got from the staff was it’s coming and they were rude too. Towards the end she left as her child was crying. Felt very bad for the kid to be honest. Very bad and poor service. Staff seemed confused and disorganised. There was about 6/7 staffs though. Will not...

So today I came with my dad as I do every week it’s our favourite place can’t fault the food and can’t fault the manager sorry don’t know his name lovely guy my own thing I would say is staff need to listen to the orders that are being taken I asked for 2 fish and chips one with beans and one with peas and outcomes one fish and chips with beans and peas on the same plate can’t fault the fact soon was sorted out for me and got our meal with was tasty but please listen more and thankyou again to the manager who customer service...
