Pizzeria Zia Lucia in Reading recently opened its doors, and my family and I decided to give it a try. Located centrally, the ambiance of the place is cozy and warm, making it a delightful spot for a family outing. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the local staff who promptly seated us. We opted for a variety of pizzas, including the nduja, spicy burrata (both normal dough and charcoal), and the Arianna sbagliata. While the pizza dough didn't quite reach the pinnacle of Neapolitan style, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, satisfying our taste buds. However, the beverage selection left something to be desired. With only bottled 33cl beers available and no IPA on offer, we hope to see a more diverse selection in the future. Additionally, the table we were seated at was uneven, making it a bit challenging to enjoy our pizzas comfortably. Despite these minor drawbacks, the staff was friendly, although we did have to request tap water multiple times before it was brought to our table. With the 50% discount, our total bill came to £58, which we found to be quite reasonable. More than eager to come back soon to Pizzeria Zia Lucia in the future, in the hopes of encountering an improved beer selection and perhaps a more stable dining surface.

Amazing service from Callum. Really personable, knowledgeable and attentive. He was watching the room often and very easily available to all the customers. It felt like he wanted us to have a good time. He even adjusted the heating as I was cold. From the moment we walked in, we were given a very warm welcome, personal attention and a really great experience from all the staff. The experience really stood out. The food was fabulous. Very Italian. Some great pizza base choices (gluten free, wheat, vegetable & charcoal and the usual thin Italian with thicker crust). Fresh, fast and a great tiramisu. They gave the whole room a complimentary limonchello at the end. The first place I've found affogato in Reading. The amazing tiramisu was indeed delicious so this would be a great place for coffee and dessert if you don't want a full meal. Mint tea is fresh mint in a pot, not a teabag. So much nicer. The room was a bit noisy with all the conversations when full, so maybe come at a quiet time if that would bother you. Food was so good I forgot photos! This was a superb place. I can't wait to go back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zia Lucia in Reading, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the pizza. It was simply wonderful, with a crust that was both fluffy and delightfully crispy. Each bite was a testament to the quality and care put into their food. A special mention must go to Callum, who made our visit even more enjoyable. He was incredibly friendly and professional, taking the time to explain the different types of pizza dough available. His knowledge and passion for the craft were evident, and it added a special touch to the overall experience. If you're in Reading and looking for a great place to enjoy some delicious pizza, Zia Lucia is a must-visit. The combination of fantastic food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service makes it a standout choice.

If you’re a fan of pizza and love trying new variations, Zia Lucia Reading is a must-visit. This Italian eatery does one thing and does it exceptionally well: pizza. The menu is beautifully simple, offering only pizzas, but with four distinct types of dough to choose from, each offering a unique experience.

The dough options are what really set this place apart. You can choose from traditional Neapolitan-style dough, a light and airy charcoal-infused crust, a hearty wholemeal option, or a gluten-free base for those with dietary preferences. Each dough has its own character, from the smoky, flavorful charcoal crust to the wholesome, nutty taste of the wholemeal. All are beautifully balanced, offering that perfect combination of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The toppings are fresh, the sauces vibrant, and the pizzas are cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven, with just the right amount of char and flavor. If you’re undecided, Summer, the waitress, will be more than happy to recommend pairings that suit your taste.

Speaking of Summer, she made the whole experience truly unforgettable. Her warmth and enthusiasm were evident from the moment we sat down. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions for both pizzas and drinks. What really impressed us was her ability to make each guest feel like they were her priority, all while maintaining a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. She clearly knows her stuff when it comes to both food and the restaurant’s unique beer selection.

The beer list was another highlight. The restaurant offers an impressive selection of craft beers that complement the pizzas beautifully. The local brews, in particular, had some really unique flavors, and Summer made sure we paired our pizzas with the perfect beer for a truly memorable meal.

All in all, Zia Lucia provides a fantastic pizza experience with a range of dough options, excellent beer choices, and the kind of service that makes you want to return. Summer’s outstanding service really made the night, and we left with full stomachs and big smiles. Highly recommend this place for pizza lovers looking to try...

Zia Lucia, a renowned Italian pizzeria with multiple locations in London, offers a unique selection of 48-hour slow-fermented doughs, including a gluten-free option.

Ambiance and Service: The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu offerings. However, some patrons have noted concerns regarding cross-contamination practices, particularly for those with celiac disease.

Gluten-Free Pizza Quality: The gluten-free crust at Zia Lucia is described as crispy with a delicate taste, providing a satisfying alternative to traditional pizza bases. Many diners have praised the flavor and texture of the gluten-free pizzas, noting them as some of the best they’ve had.

Toppings: Zia Lucia offers a variety of classic and innovative toppings, allowing diners to customize their pizzas to their liking. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients enhances the overall dining experience.

Preparation and Cross-Contamination Concerns: It’s important to note that while Zia Lucia offers gluten-free dough, the pizzas are cooked in the same oven as regular pizzas. This practice poses a risk of cross-contamination, which is a significant concern for individuals with celiac disease or severe gluten intolerance. Some patrons have reported adverse reactions, while others have not experienced issues.

Overall Rating: For those with gluten sensitivities, Zia Lucia’s gluten-free pizza offers a flavorful and enjoyable dining experience. However, individuals with celiac disease should exercise caution due to potential cross-contamination risks. It’s advisable to consult with the restaurant staff regarding preparation methods to make an informed decision based on personal health...

If you’re craving authentic Neapolitan-style pizza, Zia Lucia Reading is a must-visit. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a truly Italian experience.

The highlight, of course, is the pizza. The dough is crafted with precision, and it’s clear that the restaurant follows the traditional Neapolitan methods—light, airy, and perfectly charred with that signature leopard-spotted crust. Each bite is a balance of chewy texture and crisp edges, offering that classic soft interior with just the right amount of crunch on the outside.

Toppings are simple but fresh and high quality, with options ranging from the classic Margherita (a must-try) to more inventive seasonal combinations. The mozzarella is incredibly creamy, the tomato sauce vibrant, and the fresh basil leaves add that perfect aromatic finish.

What stands out is the oven: the pizzas are cooked at high temperatures in a wood-fired oven, giving them a distinctive smoky flavor that complements the other ingredients.

The service is friendly and efficient, and the wine list offers great pairings, making the experience even better. Prices are on the higher end, but for the quality and authenticity, it’s well worth it.

Overall, Zia Lucia Reading delivers an exceptional Neapolitan pizza experience—perfectly executed dough, premium toppings, and that unmistakable Italian flair. Highly recommended for...
