Rafina — Restaurant in Reading

Please only visit this establishment, if you care for abysmal service and poor treatment of long standing customers. A almost eighty year old lady has been visiting this cafe for over thirty years, and has seen it through multiple owners, bringing in friends and family members throughout the years, giving this establishment hundreds of pounds each week for her presence. Recently, a friend of this woman, who is suffering with dementia amongst other health difficulties in her age, as a result of her mental illness, did have a dispute with a member of staff. This resulted in the elderly, poor-healthed woman being banned. However, the dreadful owners decided to extend this ban to the nearly 80 year old woman in question, who had no relation to the dispute, except being friends with the lady in question. The owners began to dismiss this lady, who has been visiting this cafe almost daily for 30 years, banning her, all her friends, family, spoke to her in derogatory terms and accused her of “taking up space”. This has resulted, sadly, in a deterioration of her mental health. I find it so saddening that an establishment would treat a loyal, long standing customer of 30+ years, with such dread and disrespect, at no fault of her own. This treatment clearly shows their primary concern is money, rather than service, or compassion for their customers. Not even worth 1 star, absolutely appalling!!! I went for a coffee on the way to work, and I ordered a white coffee not too complicated you would've thought. but it was watered down and tasted like burned milk, I spoke to the boss called "Adam" who was extremely rude to not just me but to his staff. you could hear him over working them with tasks and verbal abuse. and when I asked him for a remake he refused and said a coffee is a coffee and refused to make me a new one but was quick enough to complain and shout at the staff about it. don't bother going in here its a waste of time and money. and if your looking to work...

I was please to see the coffee lounge re-opened after a week’s hiatus.

The staff we friendly and happy to assist some of the older patrons as they left.

The food was a bit pricey but simply reflects the current economic situation and the menu was comprehensive with plenty of options, the coffee was particular good.
