My recent visit to SKVP Reading left me deeply disappointed and disgusted with the quality of food served, particularly the dish called Gagar Ka Halwa. It was an experience I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

As I sat down and scanned the menu, I was intrigued by the unique-sounding Gagar Ka Halwa and decided to give it a try. However, what arrived at my table was far from appetizing. The first indication of trouble was the unpleasant odor emanating from the dish. Despite my initial reservations, I decided to take a small bite, only to be greeted by a repugnant taste that confirmed my worst fears.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that some parts of the halwa had visible signs of fungus, indicating that the ingredients used were well past their expiration date. The texture was slimy, and the taste was unmistakably sour, confirming that the dish was not fit for consumption. It was clear that the kitchen staff had either overlooked or ignored the basic standards of food hygiene and quality control.

Appalled and concerned for the health and safety of other patrons, I promptly called over a waiter to express my dissatisfaction. However, the response I received was equally disheartening. The waiter seemed indifferent to my complaint and merely apologized without taking any immediate action to rectify the situation. This lack of accountability and care for customer well-being was truly appalling.

As a paying customer, I believe it is essential for any restaurant to prioritize the quality and safety of their food. It is not only a matter of taste but also of health. Serving expired and fungus-infested dishes is not only unacceptable but also poses a serious risk to customers' well-being.

I sincerely hope that the management of SKVP takes this review as an opportunity to reflect on their practices and work towards improving their food quality control. No customer should have to endure such a horrendous dining experience, and it is my hope that steps are taken to prevent this from happening to others in the future.

In light of my deeply unsatisfactory experience, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend SKVP It is crucial for potential diners to be aware of the serious lapse in food quality and hygiene that I encountered during my visit. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a safer and more enjoyable...

What an utterly disappointing experience once again! Years ago, as a family and group of friends, we decided to stop ordering food or takeout from SKVP due to their declining service, customer support, and food quality. We waited patiently to see if things would improve, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. Recently, after six years, we gave SKVP another chance, hoping for better, but sadly, the situation remains the same.

On June 24th, we visited their Reading store and placed an order at 8:11 PM (receipt image attached). After waiting over an hour, only part of our order arrived. Despite multiple follow-ups, the remaining food wasn’t served until 1.5 hours later. To make matters worse, as shown in the attached pictures, they served some Indian ketchup with the kids’ fries, which were cold, half-burnt, and appeared to have been fried three times before reaching our table. My kids ended up throwing them away! The overall food quality was appalling—misal pao was watery, vada pao was cold, and the portions were so small it was frustrating. Prices have risen significantly, but both quality and quantity have drastically declined. look at the colour of potato bhajiya… over cooked :(

Sujay and Subodh, it's time to take control of this store before it’s too late! Feel sorry for the lady staff at the till. Her name is on the receipt.

We will NEVER return and will definitely be sharing our honest feedback with others in Reading. This was a complete waste of time, food, and effort. We highly recommend trying MADRAS FLAVOUR next door instead—excellent staff, delicious food, and...

Cuisine: The mix of vegetarian and vegan Indian street food sounds fantastic! I'm always on the lookout for flavorful meat-free options, and the Indo-Chinese influences add a unique twist that I'd be very curious to try.

Atmosphere: I'd need to see more photos or reviews to get a precise feel, but if it aims to capture the energy of Indian street food vendors, I'm hoping for a casual and vibrant atmosphere. Nothing too fancy – just a place focused on good food and good company.

Menu:

Vada Pav: As their specialty, I'm very intrigued. I'm not super familiar with this dish, so I'd love to try SKVP's take on it.

Variety of Chaats: This tells me I'll have plenty of options for smaller, flavorful bites. Perfect for sharing and sampling different things.

Price: I'm hoping for an affordable to mid-range price point. Street food should be accessible, and that would make it a place I could visit regularly.

Overall Impression: This restaurant sounds right up my alley. I'm always looking for casual vegetarian spots, and the focus on Indian street food makes it stand out. I'm definitely adding this to my list of places to try. I suspect people familiar with Indian cuisine will have a blast, and for those like me who are less experienced, it would be a delicious and adventurous meal.

I also want to give a shout-out to Gopi, who served us. He was super friendly, explained a couple of dishes I wasn't familiar with, and made sure our water glasses were always full. He positive energy added to the enjoyable...

Ordered Misal Pav, got tarri pav instead. Nothing in the gravy 😭 About time someone starts a decent Mumbai street food stall. This loot will keep on going for want of options
