Went in for lunch. We ordered padron which we really enjoyed. The small plate of Argentinian prawns was ok nothing special in taste to be honest it’s not something I would Like to have again. My husband order fish and chips which was ok. I ordered the monkfish tacos. It was well presented. Monk fish was fried in a batter, oily and very salty. I just couldn’t eat it. I asked the staff who was very friendly and helpful, if it was meant to be salty. After asking the kitchen staff and came and said no. He offered me another dish but I refused as food was taking longer to come out and I was running late for work. He gave me a refund which I appreciated. Sorry food is not what I was expecting. I wouldn’t recommend this dish to anyone to be honest. Not worth price and the quality Replying to your response: Firstly if I’m Readings answer to Grace Kent you’re Readings answer to Basil Fawlty. There’s no ‘pattern’ I just leave reviews like other people. If the foods good I leave a good review, if bad then a bad one. Your service was good so I said as such. What’s your point? If you’ve studied my profile and are that intrigued by me you’ll see that I leave many stars, not just one for many places. So you’re a liar. Do you also want my blood group to or my date of birth BTW? What does it matter whether we order at the bar or table? Why even mention this? What’s your point? So if I’d ordered my food at the bar it would have been less salty? So the nearer the bar the less saltier. So perhaps your chef wasn’t informed? because I did actually order at the bar, so he didn’t need to put the Salt table orderers obviously get. On the matter if Sriracha? Again what’s your point? What does Sriracha have to do with it? It cannot explain the extreme salt because Sriracha isn’t salt it’s chilli sauce. And it’s nothing to do with you how much of it we wanted. What has it got to do with the food being salty. It’s a weird way for trying to use damage control. The Sriracha was weak anyway which is why we probably needed so much. In fact yogurt is more spicy. On the monkfish - it was salty, in fact so salty it couldn’t be eaten. I’m surprised your staff also tried it, which says a lot about your restaurants hygiene if they’re happy to eat off other people’s plates, but to say it wasn’t salty is another lie. My husband actually enjoyed his food and said as much. He is not biased and not the kind of person to say something just to please me. But he tried some and said it was extremely salty. I’m not saying all your dishes are this way, perhaps more salt was used this time, I don’t know, but it was extremely salty to the point I just couldn’t eat it. To say ‘I made such a fuss’ is not only rude but another lie. How dare you insult me, I ate 1 whole Monk fish, of course I did. I was like to know it was salty if I did not eat it? I did not eat the whole plate of monkfish did I? So again what’s your point? If you looked on your camera we never made ‘a fuss’ I just said it was salty. I didn’t even ask for a refund, it was kindly offered. The only fuss being made is your desperation at damage control, which, for people reading, is as shoddy as the monkfish. Also, I never complained about the time it took to be served, I just said I couldn’t wait for another dish as it would take too long ‘as I was in a hurry.’ Again your damage control attempt is so pathetically amateurish you’ve just admitted yourself that your food takes longer to arrive than other restaurants. In fact I’m Happy to wait a little longer as I prefer freshly cooked food. So an own goal there. And lastly there’s no agenda. It’s just a review. Nobody is out to harm your reputation and nobody is monitoring you. Calm down, there’s no agenda. It’s just a review. You’ll get over it, I promise. And no, I’m not ‘gracing you’ with my custom again. Your rudeness has put paid to that. I’d rather buy a cheese sandwich from Tesco and sit by the river in the rain than ‘grace’ you with another wasted visit.

This has recently been taken over by new management and the man heading it up at the moment is a trouble shooter, there to "Fix" the pub. Using the old, sit people by the window to make it look busy trick, instead of doing what is best for the customer./diner. Apart from that they seem nice, friendly and accommodating although on my second visit did not recognise me as a second time visitor. The decor is pretty much as it was with no TV screens or fruit machines, so like a typical high standard local pub. There is still a small decked area outside the front door perfect. We had the beer battered fish and very chunky chips which is definitely worth a try, we also had the chicken balti, it came with wild rice which is a bit strange and it was quite mild but had a nice flavour. It came with two small round naan breads and mango chutney. They have a specials board with the current Pie option and the Butchers block meat option as well as extra puddings. Once you've ordered your food they bring over very fancy looking vinegar, ketchup and mayonnaise along with the cutlery and salt and pepper shakers. The ladies loos are still very cold and with a rubbish hand drier with no paper towels so I always take my napkin with me to dry my hands. Overall a great local pub, with very friendly and lovely management/staff, just on the outside of the town centre. Two hours free parking bays nearby and Queens Road Car Park a short walk away.

I was pleasantly surprised by the culinary delights that were served. The food was nothing short of luscious, bursting with vibrant flavors that truly tantalized my taste buds. Although the menu was not extensive, it certainly did not lack in variety. I found myself delighting in many dishes that were skillfully prepared with the fresh fish and seafood. The Karaage chicken was an impeccable choice for an appetizer or as a satisfying option to enjoy between courses. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Mexican cuisine, I was skeptical when I saw the Al Pastor taco on the menu, but upon trying it, I must admit that it was surprisingly authentic in taste and presentation. The Hake with mussels was another culinary masterpiece. The dish was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a sauce that was both flavorful and well-balanced. Dessert did not disappoint either, as the strawberry tart was an exquisite finale to an already remarkable meal. The service provided by the staff was impeccable, and the selection of beverages was impressive. In conclusion, this establishment is without a doubt a must-visit destination for anyone who desires delicous food

It was okay. Bit disappointed that the menu was only a reduced version due to it being Sunday (or that's how I understood it when explained to us despite the website saying it was alongside the normal menu), because I would have loved some of the side dishes on the normal menu... Definitely lost a bit of cash off us there! Bresaola with quail egg which was extremely tasty, but you only get one quail egg which didn't balance the dish right and compromised the flavour. Mum in law and I had beef for the main and the wife had corn fed chicken. Both came with a couple of vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The roast potatoes weren't roasted enough, you could taste the boil. The Yorkshire pudding on both plates was burnt. The meat was good but stringy in some areas. A couple of drinks each. You could've knocked me down with a feather when we got the bill! I hope this was just a case of a sloppy attempt at Sunday nosh and the normal menu is better. Sadly, some friends had previously asked for our thoughts afterwards and we couldn't see them sink the best part of 90 quid here. Feedback to the kitchen would be focus on the wholesome elements of a Sunday roast and forget about 'charring' stuff to make it look the business....
