What a delicious treat! I have never felt more included as “the gluten free friend.”
I was hesitant to book afternoon tea as usually the gluten free version feels like an afterthought. But it makes sense that a fully gluten free cafe would not have this problem.
The drink options per person were: 1) unlimited tea (any flavour) or 2) one hot drink that isn’t tea. You don’t have to choose the same as your friend.
I did have to go up and request more tea for myself rather than being asked at the table, I didn’t mind doing this but just be aware you can do this, so that you aren’t waiting and miss out on extra tea refills.
The sandwich was tasty (cheese and chutney) but the cakes were incredible!! Both visually appealing and scrumptiously delicious. Flavours of all the desserts included lemon, raspberry, coconut, almond and blackberry, so very fresh and summery. There was a coconut truffle, a lemon meringue tart, sponge cake, and a few others I don’t remember the specific names but they were amazing. And look how mega that scone is!
Massive portions so we had to take ours home in a takeaway boxes. I wonder if it’s possible to order 1 tea between 2, I would probably do this next time, and just order an extra main sandwich or something.
There is also the option to get a quiche instead of sandwich, and a dairy free option too.
I will definitely be back! Thank you SO...
Read moreFood and coffee are mediocre, the service is slow and the blonde girl with glasses at the bar is quite unbothered and rude - she didn’t greet us or smile. When I asked for water, she got really angry and started raising her voice saying it’s self service and rolled her eyes. It was my first time at this place so clearly I didn’t know that water is by the till.
I got an almond cake which was way too sweet and I got immediate pain in my teeth which only happens if I drink something very cold/hot or eat excessive sugar.
My friend’s muffin was the opposite - completely dry, tasteless and it had grey spots inside.
There is no atmosphere there, and alongside the unimpressive coffee, bad cakes and rude attitude, I can’t rate it more than 2.
Unfortunately, I will not return, as this experience was quite unpleasant.
P.S. You have proven my point by not even typing a simple sorry. You are ultimately extremely entitled and arrogant, and I have no wish to spend my hard earned money at your establishment. Good luck in...
Read moreAwesome Awesome Awesome What can I say or start with! Handmade homemade scones (largest and freshest ever that I have seen ever) with steam coming out and enough for a large appetite like myself. Cheese Scone is something that I never had and that was an astonishingly savoury surprise. I will definitely recommend cheese scone to try something totally different with a ravishingly delicious taste. Courtesy: the staff’s courtesy was not artificial at all rather they made us feel comfortable and at home. Very warm welcoming team at YayLo. This is a place to definitely go. Seating: pls do not be put off by seeing tables taken in the coffee comfort. Rather they have a seating space downstairs too. What could be done to improve: please can you guys put up a sign outside the door that you have plenty of seating downstairs. We would have not entered due to seeing seats full but then we are glad we came in.
Thank you YayLo team for a very very good experience you left us with. Well...
