Stratford Haven — Restaurant in Rushcliffe

West Bridgford isn't short of places to drink and dine, but this Castle Rock outpost south of the river takes a proud place among them. Rumoured to be a former pet shop by the locals, it's retained a varied range of occupants. The beer is Castle Rock quality and the atmosphere matches.

There are a number of little corners and a great snug. The outside terrace is a little summer sun trap and was well used in the 2018 heatwave. There's a selection of live music on through the week. Food is pub grub which is tasty and not over priced.

Staff, as is always the case in Castle Rock places, are friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. No menagerie any more!

This really does count as a proper local of real quality, and it's so well worth my several trips a month there. The Sunday pub quiz is something of an institution and one day, my friends, one day it shall...

The quintessential old style boozer - tremendous ales and exotic lagers. Not mobbed out with one armed bandits and televisions on every wall. Very popular in an area full of bars and restaurants. Packed last night after match at Trent Bridge. Still maintaining its standards and so nice to see people talking and not constantly looking at their phone screens. Update, unlike many things these days very little has changed but it doesn't have to as it keeps on working. Update Great night!! The Castle Rock Elsie Mo was in fine form. Pizza and a pint seemed popular and into the bargain a choir came in after practice and gave us some classics like "The Fields of Athenry and Myfanwy"....

Would recommend this place to any one visiting this part of Nottingham... To anyone visiting any other part of Nottingham, you need to have a word with yourself! Unless you are from here, and have family here, then surely football and cricket are the only reasons to visit?.. Aren't they? Getting back to the point, this place is adequately busy on a Tuesday night, fairly quiet when County are at home, and the ladies take over...
