Ate here last week with family and friends. I ordered vegetarian lettuce wrap - they served me chicken. My companions thought it was tofu and it was only after I had eaten some, I realised the texture was 'wrong'. It was hard to tell as the dish was spiced and covered in chopped nuts. Although profusely apologetic (so much so as it became annoying and kept bringing up the bad experience), the female manager kept saying it was 'human error' and ' everyone makes mistakes'. She went on to say because I 'kicked her ar' she kicked the kitchen's ars. Her take on this implies that I was 'wrong' or 'aggressive' in pointing out that they had got the order wrong. At one point I had to ask her take her hands off me, and had to push her away as she grabbed me by the wrists when apologising again!
On a positive - the main courses were generally good. However, my salt and pepper tofu was all salt and no pepper/chilli, but was OK when I got them to provide a chilli dip. The fish dish ordered was so small, our friend had to clean our plates of rice to fill themselves up. Another had to ask 3 times for a Chinese spoon, so they could eat their dinner (no knife and fork).
Overall, any positives are overshadowed by 'human error' and the overly pseudo apologetic manner of the manager, and the poor value for money. Expensive for quality and quantity. We bought chips, from the chippy, to eat on the way back to the hotel! First evening with family, from abroad, ruined. So sad because my Glaswegian husband used to love...
Read moreA friend and I visited Amber Regent on a Saturday evening. The restaurant wasn't busy. We looked at the menu upon entering. The menu reflected prices much lower than the ones inside. Once seated we ordered Two drinks. I noticed the prices on the menu and asked a waitress if this included rice (14.95). I was informed it didn't. My friend and I decided to go for the mixed platter. Which came to 20 pound plus drinks which would come to 30 (probably more because we would have had another drink)
The waitress (in a haughty manner) told us this wasnt a tapas bar and we had to order mains. The waitress made us feel worthless. She was taking my menu off me before I could even order. She then said the would ask if they could make an exception this once. She then quickly returned and said that we could stay in the half empty restaurant and order the large starter platter for Two, 'just this once'
Upon reflection, And having received our drinks, we decided we would leave. I told the waitress to cancel our order. She said, no need. She had got it to go though. I said I didn't want it. Paid for the drinks and told he.r she had been rude, to which she replied- 'I wasn't and could say the same about you'. We didn't touch the drinks. She was like a ulcer taking the money and spoke in another language to her colleague in front of me. It was a really bad experience. If i could leave zero stars I would. I would actively discourage people from going to...
Read moreI have been using this restaurant off & on over the years. In its early years, it was one of the finest, but now it could do with a revamp. As for using the restrooms, it's a hike & at one point, I thought I'd got lost. The main thing is the food, which is excellent 👌 and could never be faulted, & there's plenty of it. Expensive I would say not but each to their own. I never asked if they had a disabled toilet" if they have its not obvious, So' 100pc No use if you are Disabled or a bit shoogly on your feet as the loo's' as i said are a trek. As I don't frequent Glasgow as much as I used to for various reasons, mainly parking & Glasgow Councils unwelcoming policy towards motorists, & the shopping areas now like Tomeston, extremely run down which hurts me as being a Glasweegian & born in a tenement building in the southside. If or when I am in Glasgow, I will try this fine food eatery, providing I'm not to old to...
