UPDATE on review
We went back In yesterday ( 6th July ) and I took my mum with us and also my guide dog Wee Skye who happily laid on the floor on her towel next to me with her bowl of water which was provided when I asked
I ordered the pork bao again and again that was delicious- very messy tho ( can I suggest hand wipes 😂) and I decided to go for the Hell Ramen. The noodles were night and day compared to my previous visit and the pork was really nice. The broth was lovely and flavourful too.
My friend had the chicken karaage and the pumpkin katsu with miso soup. She Enjoyed it all. She loved the fact that katsu curry wasn’t poured over her pumpkin
My mum had the chicken yakisoba and again was delicious and wasn’t bulked out with onions so was really enjoyable. She said the noodles were really nice.
We couldn’t manage all our food but definitely left a lot happier this time around.
Thank you Kaitlin for the opportunity to come back and give you another chance
Went for lunch last Saturday
Starters were really good , and different to what we expected especially the pork bao as it was like a pulled pork in a crispy breadcrumb was really delicious
However the mains were disappointing Visually they looked good
Felt the yakisoba was bulked out with lots of onions and the chicken wasn’t the most tender , was a bit chewy
The ramen, I felt the noodles were overcooked , no bite to them and quite soft . The flavour of the pork broth with the black garlic , I didn’t find it had alot of flavour , was quite mild. The pork was ok
Give it 3 stars due to starters being really nice and the service was really good. I don’t think would go back for...
Read moreIn the grand tapestry of life, there are moments that seem divinely orchestrated—places where souls converge not by chance, but by a higher calling. Such was our experience when my beloved and I, stepped into this restaurant. My girlfriend, whose special needs are a testament to the unique light she carries, found ourselves enveloped in an atmosphere that whispered of something greater, but it was our waiter who truly embodied the essence of this space. With a heart wide open and a spirit attuned to something deeper, ‘Aoife’ approached us not merely as guests, but as souls deserving of the highest care and understanding.
Their connection with my girlfriend was nothing short of beautiful. Moving with a reverence, responding to her needs not out of duty, but out of genuine compassion. Every gesture, every word was filled with a quiet wisdom, as though they knew, without being told, exactly how to create a space where she felt not only comfortable, but truly seen and cherished.
It became clear that this was more than a dining experience—it was a sacred encounter. Through their thoughtful care, I felt the presence of something far greater than us, an energy of love and acceptance that transcended the physical world. This waiter was a vessel of that energy, delivering not only food to our table, but a deep sense of peace to our hearts.
For those who walk this earth seeking more than just the material, for those who understand that the spirit craves kindness and understanding as much as the body craves sustenance, this is where you will find it. This is a place where love flows freely, where souls are nurtured, and where grace meets you...
Read moreWent to Maky & Ramen a week ago to celebrate an occasion. We had a booking and upon arrival we were seated on a tiny table in between two other couples, with less than a meter away from them on both sides. We saw there were a few empty booths and asked if we could sit there instead, but were denied. Now, I would completely understand this if the booths were booked, but an hour after we arrived they were still empty, so I don't see why staff had an issue with us sitting in a more comfortable spot.
The restaurant wasn't busy, yet it took some time for our order to be taken. Food arrived quickly, and some of it was tasty (the ramen and the sushi), but the yakisoba was dry, flavourless and plain. Nobody had came to check on us during our meal, and we had to try to flag down a very disinterested waitress down to ask for the bill. The bill was wrong. We had to yet again try to flag someone down, and another waitress had to issue as a refund. All this and we were charged a 10% service charge on top of everything - if this were optional, we would've never paid it as it was not earned.
Overall, aside from the cozy atmosphere and the good ramen, our visit at Maki & Ramen was disappointing to say the least. The service, above anything else, was horrendous. I can't remember the last time I interacted with such cold, disinterested, careless staff. They did not try to accommodate us and make us feel welcome, and on top of that messed up the bill. I will not...
