Usually a busy place. Looks lovely. Drank in it a couple times - average town prices, loads of options tho. Last time I ate years ago had the fish which was overdone but after a couple years thought I'd give it another shot.....why did I bother. Got the sun roast Yorkie wrap. Staff said no roast potatoes (don't know if they ran out or just don't do them but they are in the picture in the menu) got this tiny plate, small amount of chips and peas. No gravy and when asked for it, she looked confused about mewanting gravy (it's a sun roast!) So 5 mins wait on gravy - didn't even get an apology, just here's your gravy. Food has gotten abit cold. Small portion. Abit bland. Paid like £25 for 2 and 2 pint cokes. Def cheaper options for a roast about. Edit - and when asked how was my food at the end - my reply was 'meh, it was ok' and the girl replied 'ohh that's great'. Good to see that's what yous aim for. Reply - I thank you for your offer and while I don't mind having a drink here. I have to decline. As I stated, that's twice I've ate here with a decent amount of time between and both times and the food has been terrible. Free food or not, it's not really worth it.

Lunch time with the family. We had a reservation for 6 of us. Staff choose an oval table which was ideal. After a kengthy perusal of the menu we skipped starters and had mains and desserts. Ranged from burgers, fish n chips, curry and Balmoral chicken and one kids meal if sausage n mash. Two glasses of wine, three cokes and an appletiser for drinks. The food arrived after a 10 minute wait which was reasonable. Food was lovely and everyone cleared their plates. Desserts were on a 2 for 1 special, so we ordered four, two icecreams, a sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles. The kids meal had ice cream too. Teenager loved the chair and had a wee read at the paper. Unfortunately a birthday unicorn balloon from a well known retailer wasnt tied securely and it floated to the ceiling when released from its bag and the ceiling was too high for the staff to attempt a rescue operation on the helium unicorn balloon. Reasonable prices had change back from £50.

The most incompetent shower of half wits serving behind the bar.

Scene 1 on asking for a dark rum and Coke they say they have captain morgans. Is that not spiced rum I say as I don't want spiced rum. No it's dark rum they assure me. I pay for drink before consuming drink. Error on my part as it was spiced rum and therefore money spent on a drink that I could not consume.

Scene 2 (different day) Requested pint of John Smiths. One word bowfing.

Scene 3 (different day) Request a pint of Diet Coke. Am given a half pint. When asked if barmaid is sure that's a pint she advises it is but she has bigger glasses. Eh? Sorry? What? Could it be that the bigger glass is the pint glass you moron, I thinks. Well if you want the bigger glass it will cost you an extra 30p. (I am not making this up). After a good five minutes consulting her fellow workers I manage to get the drink I ordered in the correct size of glass.

Scene 4 (Same day as Scene 3) Watching match point of the semi final between Nadal and Federer suddenly they switch the telly to the Hearts game with no notice. Some of other tellies at bar are still showing Wimbledon so as I walk over to bar to watch it these then promptly get changed to Women's netball (You know how many people really love watching Netball) NETBALL. Are they taking the piss I think and then I realise how incompetent they all are given the pint half pint idiocy. Eventually I walk to other end of bar to try and catch the end of the tennis. Luckily it stays on til the end of the semi. Wow. I don't think I have ever been in a pub so badly run.

Wonders will never cease and I will never ever know how that pub turns over good business regularly when it seems to be run by a shower of half wits whenever I...

Poor service with gentleman claiming to be a manager lying to customers over a reserved table, he also ruined a friends top after taking a hissy fit when called out on it.

Went in on a Saturday evening about 5.30pm and found a table reserved for 8pm with the notice asking us to enjoy the table until until that time but could we please leave near the time (Words to that effect) we are regulars and have did this before and left the table early to help staff clear and tidy up.

On this occasion the chap at 6.45pm very cheekily came and told us abruptly to move as the party that booked the table came early , we simply asked the chap why as the notice on the table said 8pm and were could we move to. At this point he started getting angry and started ripping the notices of tables and aggressively lifted tumblers and plates, with some red sauce getting slammed on a table splashing over a friends shirt.

Through conversations with the party that booked the table we discovered the chap lied to us and the party had an email showing the table was actually booked for 7pm , this meant the chap claiming to be the manager (Actually assistant) lied to us. His attitude could have caused a riot as we are reasonable people and regulars, if he had came to us and simply said the staff made a mess of the booking can we please get the table early things would have been fine, unfortunately his attitude from the beginning was aggressive and adversarial. it did not help when the actual managers default position was to back his staff member, despite witnesses from our table and surrounding tables all telling him the chap lied.

Used to love this pub , unlikely to use it...

Extremely unhappy with my visit on Saturday 26.07.25. Booked a bottle package in advance which was £240 and was ready to pay to be told that they didn’t have the bottle of ciroc in, without offering an alternative just said that they never had it and went to serve someone else. This left me standing here with no communication and eventually had to ask for my alternative options (change to a different vodka etc) the guy at the bar serving me said that he would go ask his manager, manager came over did not even acknowledge me or my group, didn’t speak to us once or try help out. My group and I had to go on to the drinks menu online after already being in for about 20 minutes without a drink, which we had pre ordered for 8pm so expected to be there for us arriving, and work out an alternative for ourselves. Eventually we had to ask the server if we could change to another package which he eventually managed to sort for us. The one star given is for the actual server behind the bar serving us, he tried his best to accommodate and keep us happy and brought over the new package very quickly, but extremely dissapointed with the rude ‘manager’ on shift upstairs this night and how he dealt with the situation, as customers coming in to spend over £200 in your bar you’d have thought we were invisible to him. Started our night off on a bad vibe when we were all out to have a good night celebrating...
