Maltman — Restaurant in Scotland

Lovely pub. However, not impressed with the food or food service. We ordered sharers. After ordering and paying, we were then told there was no turnip for the haggis, neeps and tatties. Our food arrived (minus 2 of the dishes) and no side plates. It was luke warm at best. My partner had to go seek someone out for the 2 missing dishes. By the time they arrived, along with the side plates, the other food was cold including fried cheese which was no longer soft. I complained to the waiter who simply said "sorry" then asked how long our other food had been out. I told him sorry wasn't going to solve the issue of cold food. To which he simply walked away, with no offer to try to resolve this. Staff were very friendly however, we ordered from a gluten free menu that offered a jacket potato with butter, which arrived without butter and when we asked we were told the kitchen had no butter or margarine, so the meal was very dry. We also ordered the vegan burger that was meant to come with seasoned fries, but the fried were plain. The vegan burger was also served with onion rings that I was assured were vegan but as I later found out that there was infact no chef in the kitchen I doubt that they were. We found there was no chef in the kitchen when we attempted to order desert but were advised there would be a 30 minute wait- as the manager was acting as the chef!!!! Had a works night out celebrating a birthday and Hen night. Food came out a bit slowly due to our numbers (15 -18 people) . Basic pub grub, but not the best as some fish was over done, sparse portions of chips with the meals, just a basic bowl of macaroni no trimmings 😏. Ladies toilet had one disgustingly dirty loo and another which you had to hold to close and a few light bulbs not working over certain cubicles. The upside is the music played by the dj. We had a good time on the dance floor ( apart from the guys who think it's OK to dance with a pint in your hand. In my day (80's) you were never allowed on the dance floor with a drink in your hand. Used to go here loads for the music about 4yrs ago , but it has gone downhill...
