We were Glutened !!
I am diagnosed celiac and my husband is Gluten intolerant..we visited this cafe and ordered 2 Gluten free cheese burgers. The lady taking our order was not English and we had trouble communicating with her...we were told the chips were not gluten free which was fair enough so went ahead with the 2 cheese burger orders. We were then approached by another staff member who told us they could not provide 2 cheese burgers but we could have two chicken burgers instead also as we had paid for the fries which we could not have they told us they would replace the fries with two soups. The meal was ok.....chicken burgers were not nice they were cheap reformed chicken deep fried frozen chicken steaks in a brioche bun..
Two hours after this meal i was physically sick from ingesting gluten and my husband suffered for three days with abdominal pain from also ingesting gluten. We don't know which part of the meal contained the gluten and we are certain there was gluten in some of our meal. This was not some cross contamination issue this was us eating food that was not gluten free going off our symptoms...
Will not be visiting again and celiac/gluten intolerant sufferers beware of the gluten free food offered...
Read moreMy daughter and I stumbled upon cafe wander on Wednesday afternoon. We were looking for a light snack and a gluten free option for me. I was delighted to find lentil soup and bread both gluten free and both very good. My daughter Phoebe had soup and a panini. She usually takes 3 spoons of soup and half a dozen bites of panini and leaves the rest but she ate the lot!! That's how lovely the lentil soup was. The lady who served us was very welcoming and friendly. You could see it was service with a smile even with her mask on. It was a lovely relaxed environment. We didn't feel rushed. Everywhere exceptionally clean. We plan to return and try something else on the menu. We'll probably bring My Mum aswel next time too. If there's gluten free bread there'll be gluten free cake. 🍰. So, table...
Read moreCan't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. I LOVE Cafe Wander. Me and my Monkey had just arrived in Glasgow after an overnight bus ride from Birmingham and desperately needed food. A quick google showed Cafe Wander to be quite close so I took a chance and walked round. Best Glasgow decision made in a long time. Both me and my Monkey were made to feel welcome. The food is delicious, really good value, what better to welcome ye back than Scottish sliced sausages as part of a fab breakfast. But there's way more to the menu than that. Way more. The staff are really brilliant too. Friendly and attentive yet not intrusive. And the cafe itself, set downstairs off the street is...
