horrible service. came in about a week ago with 2 friends of mine, asked for a table for 3; a lady and a man at the front have said hi, looked at us and simply continued their conversation avoiding any further eye contact right in frontal of us. At this point we were slightly confused and were simply standing there at the door, looking straight at them with no attention to us.. all three of us were extremely tired and were just looking for good dinner, having high expectations of this place due to the good reviews... after about 2 minutes of complete ignorance, we were taken to the table for three. the lady with an accent that had this cheeky behaviour said she's gonna bring us the drinks menu; walked back to her friend near the front door and did absolutely nothing. couple of minutes after, another waiter came over and asked what we wanted for drinks when i told him that we've never received the menu. He brought us the menu and we ordered the drinks. they came at relatively okay speed and tasted ok. After that the same waiter took our order. We didn't order very much but it took good 15-20 minutes to arrive. During the time, the lady from the front has given us a funny, arrogant look as she was walking by and then asked if we needed forks. I said no, but my friend had then told her that we do require some. That same lady then laughed, vanished and never brought us the forks. The rolls we shared were nice but the service was horrible. ended up paying £82 for overpriced food with like £7.50 'gratitude' charge for absolutely unacceptable behaviour from staff. We didn't even know that charge was included. Clearly there wasn't any good reason for 'gratitude' of that size for that kind of work. Will NOT be coming back. Don't recommend; the experience at this restaurant had left us frustrated, unwelcome and tricked for money.

Good quality, decent value for money, some things better than others Went here with a group of friends and had a jolly good time. Food was all prepared well, nothing exceptionally good, but all very decent. I had the miso soup to start, standard issue miso soup, what else can you say, 7/10 I shared the prawn tempura with two others. They were pretty good, but not terribly fresh. The sauce was nice though 6/10 For main course I had ramen with spicy soup and duck. It was very tasty, and the portion really filled me up. Didn't each much for the rest of the day, in fact! The soup was tasty, but didn't have the creamy bone broth quality to it that could have kicked it up a notch. 7/10 Variously, the rest of the table ordered, soft shell crab sushi, pretty good, but the crab had gone a bit soggy in the rice, flavour was so-so, 7/10 takoyaki, a little greasy, too much dough and not enough actual. octopus, 6/10 bento box, good vairety of flavours 8/10 chicken karage, 8.5/10 veg tempura, 5/10 Overall, food was good, but there's certainly better japanese food to be had. Service was OK, but a little slow. Also didn't appreciate the mandatory-but-not-mandatory service charge they snuck straight on to the bill.

I had such high hopes when I walked in the door of this restaurant. I was greeted and seated quickly and the menu was full of stuff that was appetising and quite reasonably priced. My order was taken quickly and the food was served in good time. However, when I was brought my soft shell crab and vegetable tempura, my heart sank. As you can see from the pictures the food was poorly presented and tasted as lacklustre as it looked. The soft shell crab was slightly over-cooked and the vegetable tempura had the most uninspiring selection of vegetables (seaweed, sweet potato, a very thin aubergine slice and a mushroom). The batter was slightly too heavy as well as tempura batter should really be light. My disappointment wasn’t just reserved for the starters, my sushi was just as unimaginately presented, with blobs of some sort of mayonnaise obscuring the fish (which is the point of the sushi). The staff were great but the food wasn’t and as this restaurant sits next to and is similarly priced as Wagamama, it’s food really didn’t bear comparison.

I usually never rate a business with 1 star but the service I recieved was appalling ! I have ordered sushi in the past on a number of occasion over the past year and it's always consistant and nice but its the service that i recieved last week has made me promise to never give these guys any business any more. I had ordered take away sushi last Friday and the restaurant was busy. I kind of wanted to place the order with a girl who is usually there ( skinny physique with light hair) as she had taken my order last time as well. As I was placing the order , I politely mentioned that the previous order that I had placed with her was wrong, as in certain items were not what I had ordered- not wanting to get any discounts or anything but simply to make sure that this time, the food items were indeed what I wanted. She completely blanked me and walked away! Then as i placed the order with the same person, I asked her to repeat the order and which she did and later discovered, she still got the items wrong. My spicy sake was not spicy and the Edemame beans lacked the salt. There was not even any chopsticks or soy sauce in the bag. After spending £58 on a Take away, i really felt as if i wanted to throw the bag of food in the bin. Also not to forget, they had charged with a 10% service charge - on a take away and not sitting down ! Now, that was an icing on the cake. I walked back in and got the £5 something back but Nope! Not a single sorry and just a casual mention that it autimatically gets added to every bill. I know the place produces good food and they are busy but really! If you are stressed with your tasks on hand then simply dont take any orders to go! My Friday evening was spoiled and couldn't even enjoy the food. Please consider getting some lessons on...

This used to be a great place many years ago. Last night a group of us went for a burthday. We received possibly the worst service we've ever had in an restaurant. Before we were even seated it looked like the staff member was being told off by the Manager. Following this, we received the coldest welcome from him when we requested a table. "Come on" he harshly replied as he walked us there. We were never served by him again but instead the staff seem to rotate on our table and went from a very strange, hyperactive person to another who seemed entirely fed up working. The food we ordered was 'ok'. Nothing fantastic about it. I had soup noodle bowl and it was very cheap beef by the tast of it. Another in our group asked one of the staff about getting teriyaki dipping sauce for her ribs the reply was "oh that's like another £2.50 or £3 if you want more sauce". The immediacy at which she started qouting prices at a diner asking for sauce leads me to believe being charged more for dipping sauce hasn't went down well with others in the past. We paid the bill after waiting around 15 mins for someone to even bring it after we asked. Now we were greated with yet another staff member we had never met. He was as cold as most of the others. After paying i noticed a bad smell on the backs of my hands and arms. Everyone noticed it on themselves too. We all realised the woven mats on the tables are absolutely vile and smell rotten. Try giving them a good sniff of you're brave enough. Upon leaving not a single staff member said goodbye. Well goodbye Nippon kitchen,...
