We were there on Saturday 1st Oct around half 9 in the evening. It's not the busy time of the restaurant, we were sat at the long bench which was fine. Then the next minute, a group of 3 (one girl two guys) arrived and the waitress sat them next to us on the same bench.... Really?? there're lots of empty spaces why sat them here???? I know this type of restaurant you can't really have privacy as its the style but hey that night was not busy and we would like a bit of a space while having dinner! A girl and a guy sat on my side and the other guy sat on the other side. I wouldn't have been that annoyed if they had kept themselves behaved and nice. The girl sat almost elbow to elbow to me and she was just so talkative and so much of a body language that she pinched me a few times on my side!!! Soooo annoying that I was really not happy they never realised (at least should have thought about other people nearby not just them the only customers in the restaurant) and they just kept on chatting and loud. I tried to ignore but she kept touching pinching my arm and didn't even feel sorry or realised.
Now I thought that's a bit too much for having such unpleasant experience but no there's more. When we asked for the bill I did a check just as usual and found that my boyfriend's 2nd bottle of coca-cola was never served. We never got it and so I told the waitress (small one wearing glasses). She came and said yes you had 2 bottles, then my boyfriend told her no you never gave me it. Believe it or not she still insisted that we had 2 bottles as we spoke!!! She said you had 2 glasses on your table - yes of course one for coca-cola one for my tap water!! She then went back to the bar and tried to prove that we had 2 bottles - I mean what did she want? She thought we lied??? Did she think we wanted just to get away with that £2.40 drink??? She then went to her manager and sorted of moan (can tell from her facial expression) before getting us the correct bill. I felt that really was an insult. I don't think she has the attitude towards restaurant services. Working in one of the well known chain restaurants doesn't mean you can look down on customers or do whatever you feel like to customers. You should be sensible in the first place not to stack up 5 persons in one table if there's space available plus it's not really busy. I couldn't get in the second incidence what's in her head at all. I used to like Wagamama a lot but from now will not return.
Not much to comment on food as it was just ok...
Read moreTERRIBLE MANAGEMENT BY WAGAMAMA. SHOCKING. Must read!!!
7pm on Tuesday evening, we joined the queue to wagamas that led past its neighbours front of shop. Whilst standing in line on a public footpath, we were approached by a member of staff that told us that we cannot stand where we were, as next door were complaining that it was overlapping their area. Immediately I felt like I was being told, in public, where I was allowed to stand and that didn't sit right. We were not causing problems, rather joining the end of a que, yet big bully staff were telling everyone that they cannot have us standing outside next door as they were complaining. The wagamama staff said you have to come back in a few minutes to see if the que had gone down.
NEWS TO WAGAMAMA, the footpath is not owned by any company, like they claimed, its owned by the public. And If the public want to form a non obstructive que that leads to your door, that stretches the whole length of the street, then they are entitled to do so. This is not America, we are not bullied about in public by private organisations so if you want to solve the complaint issue, you respect your customers and explain to next door that you are simply popular and your customers have a right to que there and should not have to bear the burden of moving and losing their place in queue.
Time and time again we saw customers join a queue on a public footpath and then were told to move on as next door didn't like it. Terrible service. We were treated like an inconvenience even before we stepped inside.
I stood my ground and told the fat bully staff member that I was going to stand where I want and he looked annoyed, he walked off and was seen pointing in my direction. Sorry but it's not my problem. So don't ask me to fix it.
Food was rushed, nobody made a checkback to us. Once inside staff were polite etc. But was shocked to be approached in public by staff and told to stand somewhere else when all I wanted was to eat in...
Read moreOK, this pains me to write as, I have been coming to Wagamamas since they opened their very first flagship. I am a long time customer and have never had a bad meal.
But boy oh boy today's meal was not acceptable at all. I would like to point out however that the FOH team, and our server was an absolute star and he alone deserves a five star rating.
So the food. We ordered the wok fried veg, which was broccoli and pak choi. Conpletely over cooked, and soaking wet on the plate. The yakitori was nice. The edammme beans, the usual can't go wrong.
Next we ordered the tempeh salad, and the tempeh was overcooked and the salad leafs were wilted and blackened as they were clearly out of date. Not good at all. the salad was thrown onto the plate with no care.
I also ordered the raisukaree curry with tofu. The tofu was completely overcooked. The rice wasn't even cooked properly.
Overall extremely disappointed, judging by the pass and chefs sections in the kitchen I'm not really surprised. Maybe I'm just used to a london standard for wagamamas as this shocking, and honestly it wasnt even busy...yes i can say that...im a chef and have worked far busier with a smaller team. That kitchen team needs to pull their socks up and the head chef or sous really needs to start checking the quality of the food leaving the pass.
I wouldnt recommend unless they can get a team of chefs in who care or can cook. But seeing as the majority of the menu comes in pretty much done from a central kitchen it's amazing a simple task like cooking rice properly wasnt executed. If the whole menu was cooked from scratch inhouse I'd be sympathetic but we all know its...
