I went to this restaurant on a monday night at 6.30and sat down to order simple fish and chips as i have done periodically for thirty years, often with visitors to glasgow in the film and tv industry, as was the case on this occasion also.

After a delay i was told upon ordering from the menu they were "not now doing fish". This was despite the fact there were three cooked pieces of fish in the windowed heater. Ordering a set of cheese toasties we were told they were not now doing toasties either, and and bizarrely had to settle for a cheese salad roll.

One person who came in after us was given fish and chips to carry out as was someone who ordered after us at a table. It was clear the staff could not be bothered to cook more fish or even heat a toastie.

My colleagues, some from abroad, were shocked at the shabby, disrespectful and rude behaviour of the staff who had decided they were closing at 7.30 on a monday evening (which they did despite a nearby barroiwlands concert scheduled) and would not be bothered with customers who arrived at 6.30.

I have over the years enjoyed visiting this cafe under the stewardship of the cordial owner chris corvi who was not present on this occasion, but i unfortunately do not intend to return. This cafe in the past had excellent staff, but i cannot say the same holds now. Judging from recent reviews , my experience is hardly...

We looked for fish and chips in Glasgow that cooked in beef fat in hope we could find somewhere and we did! We had a fantastic experience at this retro fish and chip shop, kitted out like a 50s diner and truly authentic. The fish and chips fried in beef fat were absolutely fantastic! We have stopped eating fish and chips fried in vegetable oil hydrogenated oil and all of the other awful fats as they make the food too oily and greasy and make us feel sick. Fish and chips fried in beef fat taste great and are not greasy at all, furthermore in my opinion it’s the most healthy way to cook fish and chips. Vegetable oils are extracted using petrochemicals and other nasty processes, they are not meant to be heated over 100° C or they break down and denature.Beef fat is a saturated fat that is very stable cooking at the high temperatures that are needed to make good fish and chips. Saturated Fat in my humble opinion is an essential part of a healthy diet and not to be avoided. Speaking to the owner of the fish and chip shop he feels similarly and I am so pleased there are people out there doing this. If you’re looking for a proper old school fish and chip experience I do not think you could find anywhere better than this, highly...

I was served from a pleasant older woman on Thursday 4/09/25. Clearly just started in the cafe and trying to learn, which is perfectly fine as we all need to learn a new job. This women wasn’t the issue. The problem was the regular blonde women that works there, her attitude is horrific, the cursing and swearing she does which was putting me off my nice breakfast. The way she was speaking to that older women who was learning was absolutely out of order. I know if that women was my gran I would be going straight to the cafe to complain. The blonde women needs to go on a training course for manners , she has terrible customer service and she is down right horrible to the other staff members. I can’t get over the way she was speaking to that poor women and making her so nervous she was forgetting things. That blonde women should be ashamed of herself, I have no idea why she has a job there. Disgusting behaviour. I will not be back.

I also just want to acknowledge the lovely older women that works there at the weekends, she is so nice and pleasant. The food is...

Visited yesterday for the first time and was so impressed by everything. Everything was lovely and clean inside, with spacious and clean toilet facilities too. Service was absolutely spot on, nothing too much hassle and really felt like staff wanted to make sure everything was how we wanted it- superb. Ordered soup, an egg roll, a ham toastie, mince pie, and a small fish supper - everything was delicious, cooked exactly how you’d want it all - I’m not a regular passer-by but i’ll definitely be visiting again, and recommending to others, 10/10 proper good grub and the service to match. Thanks guys!

The Coronation Cafe is iconic. Love the place it's simple style with great quality food. The service is always friendly and a smile goes a long way in keeping customer's coming back. I had been thinking about their haggis supper all the way on the train from Inverness and it didn't disappoint. And the empire biscuits were perfection. If you're in town and hungry it's the place to be.

Really great fish and chips , coming from Londoner who is use to pretty average food with ridiculously high price. Fish was light and tasty and the batter was crispy fresh and not oily. Hand cut chips tasted fresh and amazing. Inside is a proper old style cafe with some real lovely members of staff and a massive menu. Would most definitely recommend a visit to this lovely establishment.
