A really great place near the station! Kafatteria is not the regular place across the railway. Normally one would (unfortunately) expect busy, overworked services with little to offer, they are anything but that. The staff proceeds at incredible speed and doesn't let off a chaotic vibe, in one of the busiest points of the city. The place is wonderful and manages to have a homely and relaxing atmosphere on the ground floor. A floor up, there is a space with more seating and feels as alive as a literary cafe: it's much busier than the ground floor, and much noisier! The food is amazing and the offering is really vast, many types of sandwiches, cakes, tarts. The quality of the food distinguish them from the rest of their competitors, there's not many cafes in Glasgow maintaining this standard.
We tried a latte, oat milk hot chocolate, salmon and cream sandwich and a tuna melt. Our favourite was the Tuna Melt, and we loved the quality of the bread: fresh, with a perfect consistency that makes you go back for more.
The toilets are kept clean and orderly. The entire establishment is really finely decorated and is very well kept. There's not many times you think everything is in the right spot: this happens...

Let’s begin with the positive thing, it has a relaxed vibe and an area perfectly suited for getting some work done, if the music wasn’t loud.
Coffee: tastes just ok. Nothing so special about it. To me I found it a waste of good quality beans as they are using Thomson’s. Baristas don’t pay attention to milk-to-coffee proportions. They serve coffee extremely extra hot to how coffee should be prepared. Milk is not textured nor is it frothed properly. Basically, it is overheated milk on coffee.
Staff and Barista : in the morning shift are the sweetest. In the afternoon, there was different people, the rudest and grumpiest.
Food : I had a carrot cake, chocolate cookie and brownies. Didn’t taste good. I found both to be not freshly baked. I am not sure for how long these have been setting there, but due to the texture I would say for days. The carrot cake had this fridge odor taste. The cookie 🍪 and brownies were inedible.
Another day I ordered pain au chocolat, just ok, it was also...
Read moreKaffateria, located just beside Queen Street Station, is a cozy cafe that I visited first thing in the morning to grab a cup of coffee. The ambiance is a bit darker, but the sunlight is sufficient to brighten up the room. Inside, there’s a train information section that allows you to check your train’s departure time and platform.
I ordered a mocha, and my family ordered lattes and other varieties of coffee. The mocha had a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, complementing each other perfectly. My partner was also satisfied with her latte. They also offer oat milk for those who are lactose intolerant.
Overall, Kaffateria is a great place to start your day. The friendly and welcoming servers ensure that you have a pleasant experience. You’ll know you’ll have a good morning with their delicious coffee and...
