WOW! I really mean it! I have never been to an indian restaurant with this many fish and seafood on the menu and also cooked to perfection!
Friday 4th of July early dinner with my partner. We were welcomed by all the staff, and I mean at least by 5 different people. I have never had this before and also never had the question ''How was your day?'' by staff at a restaurant before. By all 5 people. It was nice the first time, but then started to feel awkward, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars at the service part. But don't be alarmed, this is just me, I tend to be easily overwhelmed and the staff only wanted to be polite. But I would definitely appreciate a more relaxed approach.
They were all very polite and tending to us swiftly. I also appreciate A LOT that they only asked about the food after we finished each course and not while still eating with a stuffed mouth, which is something that annoys me in other restaurants.
So, the food. My goodness. Monkfish tandoori!!! I am still dreaming of this! The most succulent tender aromatic spicy monkfish ever, along with the distinct tandoori char!
Lobster tandoori that comes with excellent citrusy curry on the side with lots of ginger lemongrass and kafir leaves I guess, plus the exquisitely matched coconut rice! Amazing!
Kingfish curry, fantastically aromatic, tender and intense taste of the fish and I mean that even though the curry was so flavourful, the actual taste of the fish was not lost.
Very fresh garlic naan with real garlic, yet not overpowering.
Awesome chicken pakora perfectly deep fried, light, not at all greasy, crispy batter full of flavour! And we have been on a mission to try every pakora on our way since 2014, and this is one of the good ones.
The atmosphere was as I expect from a good indian restaurant plus authentic music. One of the staff told us about the overhang carpet-like decorations which came all the way from India. A bit too bright for my taste and I would love to see more real plants instead of plastic ones, hence the 4 in atmosphere, but this is just me and my personal taste and just being totally honest here.
Overall, the food here is the most important aspect and if I could I would give 10 stars to Kinara Glasgow! It will be one of our staples every time we visit our beloved city and also higly recommended to everyone, especially the fish and seafood...
Read moreThe clan was out and about in the town. Spotted this place as we were walking by so thought we would give it a go. We asked for a table of 6 and I fear that we got a new waiter as he said we had to wait for a manager to sit us in an empty restaurant. Once seated we were spoilt with the number of veggie options on the menu. I saw the Chaat street food section which is a personal favourite of mine so I ordered 2 of them!!! Was told that the samosa one was with 2 samosas so I got a little scared finishing them. (Turns out they were not the average sized samosas, they were the small petite size.) The food took some time to arrive, seeing as we were the only ones in, felt a little bit weird. Drinks came and even got some extra glasses for the water, but seeing as we had limited space on the table we advice the waiter we didn't need so many as only a few wanted just water. But this was ignored and we were advised "you might need them." Once the food arrived it did look lovely. But we had to nudge the waiter as a few things had been forgotten. (Let alone the limited amount of paneer in the dishes.) Sadly the food was average. The looks were the tastiest part of the food. I stopped talking pictures of the food as I wasn't impressed with the flavors. Can totally see why hipsters or pretentious people would really enjoy it. Yet it just wasn't for me. Everyone shared food to try and find something they really enjoyed. But it was just ok in all honesty. If happy have gone for an average 3 stars, but the service dropped one. I would say this is a one off because they have some great reviews. Or they just get hipsters who feel they give a high review for the price they are paying. Hope you have a better experience than...
Read moreKinara Indian restaurant King Street Glasgow. The long awaited opening of this restaurant was welcomed today as it was bank holiday Monday. Taking full advantage of the day off work my partner and I decided to book a lunch time slot at the kinara. Checking out the menu online beforehand, I was slightly apprehensive as the dishes are not your usual main stream Indian meals. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed with the manager who we are familiar with from the sister restaurant the Madras Cafe. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated to a high standard and it's airy and bright. The exciting part came next where we had the option of lunch menu which is £12.99 for 2 courses or the Ala carte menu which is full of culinary delights. We were pleasantly surprised with the arrival of our selection of small crackers, mango chutney and spiced onion and another little dish with spiced vegetables. Which was absolutely delightful. I ordered vegetable pakora ( not named pakora) and my partner had vegetable fritters. Both were fantastic and come with they own delicious dips. I oped for the chicken lahsun morich murgh. My partner had chicken Tikka meal called guntur Mirchi Tikka. Both dishes were nothing less than outstanding. So fresh and authentic tasting. It was definitely a culinary delight to eat here. The chef shabu is a legend and we have followed him within the restaurants he has worked at over the years. His food never fails to excite us. This place is a new Indian restaurant that will be a massive hit once the word gets out of how amazing the food is here. If your in Glasgow give this restaurant a try you will not be...
