Shoutout to Shahari – A True Gem at Dhaba!
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Dhabba during my trip to Scotland, and let me just say—this might’ve been the best food I had during my entire stay. But beyond the incredible flavors, it was the hospitality that left a lasting impression, thanks to one amazing person: Shahari.
I was running late to catch my bus and showed up just as the restaurant was getting ready to close. I figured I might be turned away, but instead, Shahari welcomed me with a warm smile and said, “As long as you order quickly, we’ll take care of you.” And wow—did she ever.
She gave me fantastic recommendations (you’ll see the dishes in the photo), and every single bite was beyond belief. Authentic, rich, perfectly spiced—it hit all the right notes. But what really made the moment special was how genuine and sweet Shahari was. She wasn’t just doing her job—she was making sure I felt welcome, seen, and cared for.
And it wasn’t just me—she was juggling two other tables with the same kindness, energy, and professionalism. You could see how much she cares about people, and it truly reflects well on the restaurant. Whoever hired her made the best decision. She even packed my food carefully so I could make it to my bus on time—and I did, safely and happily full.
Thank you, Shahari, for your heart, your service, and your warmth. You turned what could’ve been a stressful day into a memorable one. I’ll be recommending Dhabba to anyone visiting Glasgow—not only for the food but for the exceptional people like you who...
Read moreLoved the ambience, the location is quite central to glasgow ( nearabout Trongate) the layout and seating arrangement is quite spacious and has most of the basic amenities like wheelchair access and baby changing facilities. Special mention goes to the fact that we were a group of 10 and was successfully accomodated in one long table even after catering for decent number of customers as one would expect for a friday night in city centre glasgow. The crowd quality was quite decent and liked the hygiene measures , toilets were clean but a bit stuffy size wise and dark colour theme made it appear smaller and claustrophobic. The food we had was amazing, specially the tandoori platter- chicken and fish were sumotious, didnot like the lamb chop tandoori much as it was quite rubbery and tough. For the main course we went for laal maas ( lamb meat in spicy curry) , personal favourite was the rogan josh - absolute closest to indian level spice, the fish ajwain was okayish but wont be ordering in future- good for one time taste. The butter naan tasted well. Murgh Musqawala was also medium spicy and didnt catch much attention as compared to rogan josh in terms of spice levels. Outstanding was the ghost biriyani- had ordered jeera rice as well but would order only biriyani henceforth - it was thaaaatttt good! The raita was unique and tasted well. Overall, would definitely recommend and totally...
Read moreI felt a little nervous arriving at the Dhabba with a friend just a week ago for an early evening meal before heading off to a concert. It was my first visit since the Sunday evening in November 2021 when the meal was surprisingly disappointing and I'd written a poor review to reflect that. On this occasion the meal was excellent and the welcome was as warm as ever, although I sensed some embarrassment when the head waiter apologised for our previous experience and for the failure to respond to my emails and the review I'd written.
As I said in my previous review, I first visited the Dhabba in 2006 when I was attending a conference in Glasgow and I've become something of a regular, eating at the Dhabba whenever I'm in Glasgow and sometimes making the two hundred mile journey from the Moray coast just to eat at the Dhabba. I will definitely be back before too long and will look forward to spending many more happy hours enjoying the authentic North Indian cuisine and sampling more wines from the wine list.
Having finished our meal, the head waiter very kindly ordered a taxi to take us to the Armadillo to see...
