I had given up on Chinese food after too many visits to bland mass produced Chinese 'junk' food such as that spewed out by the ubiquitous 250 item menu establishments you see on most high streets. Few Chinese restaurants were anything other than soulless versions of the 'junk' food take-away. Then from out of nowhere, Mitchell Street to be precise, appeared this gem. Looking at the distinctively curt menu and the convivial atmosphere through the windows, we thought it had to be worth a try. We weren't wrong. The food is fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The mixed platter was a showcase of how good Chinese food can be. The honey wings were perfectly cooked with a delicate honey glaze rather than the spread-on jam served at other institutions; the prawn wontons were delicately crisp not chewy or crunchy; the crispy pancakes were novelty-thin but tasty-thin. A great start and playing it safe, I chose the Kung-Po chicken. Normally this would be turned out using Uncle Ben's sweet & sour sauce with a sliced pepper and chewing gum chicken. The Lychee Oriental served a lightly battered, pillow-soft chicken in a sweet and delightfully spiced sauce with fresh crispy vegetables. A Chinese delight. Staff were courteous, happy, and helpful; the perfect hosts for near perfect food. I want to thank the Lychee Oriental for bringing me back to fabulous...

Food amazing. Slightly expensive for portion size but good quality. Atmosphere in restaurant absolutely buzzing and vibrant BUT the service was so poor. They informed us that we only had 90 minutes on the table. It was so rushed. They wanted us to eat and hurry up and leave. So stressed by the service. Throwing food down our throats. Waitresses literally sweating, panting and arguing amongst themselves, trying to run around at 100mph. Some of our diners hadn't finished and their plates lifted away. Very stressed environment. We were told we didn't have time for desserts and coffee despite spending close to £300 on starters, mains and drinks. When we asked for more drinks, desserts, coffees etc, we were reminded several times we only had so much time, almost like we were being counted down to leave. We booked two months in advance and were not informed at the time that we only had the table for 90 minutes. Given the cost of the night, we'd expect a completely different experience. Unfortunately this was far from the relaxed dinner that we were looking for. Such a shame as the food is great but having to rush it down our throats, and feeling pressured, makes it unlikely...

Lychee Oriental is a fantastic Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Glasgow City Centre. The restaurant is run by the award-winning celebrity chef Jimmy Lee and has won several awards, including the Best Oriental Restaurant 2019 in the Glasgow Awards and the Best Asian Restaurant in Scotland The restaurant offers a sophisticated and authentic oriental dining experience with a wide range of Chinese and Oriental food menus, including a la carte, banquet style, and gluten-free options.

Some of the standout dishes include the crispy Shredded sweet n chilli chicken and chicken satay.

Overall, Lychee Oriental is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an authentic Chinese dining experience in Glasgow. Whether you’re visiting for a business lunch or a celebration dinner, you’re sure to enjoy the restaurant’s sophisticated atmosphere, delicious food, and...

It was a lovely restaurant. The food was good. The portions could be bigger. The decor was nice. We just had WiFi issues as it didn’t work.

We usually go as a couple and it's usually quite good but we decided to go as a family.. and took our sister in law with us , 3 children and 3 adults.. they add a 12.5% service fee on top so that was £16 on an already expensive meal ... it's added to parties of more than 5 people , so in future we'd avoid with our children as we'd be charged a 12.5% fee every time Children's menu is quite small but understandable, kids all had spring rolls for starters, one of them had chicken fried rice but it was a chopped chicken breast stuck on top of fried rice , daughter still ate it but looked very dry and blank Our meals were fine, drinks were okay, service was okay as well , waited a while to order a 2nd drink , i guess service has went down a little bit but mightve just been an off day
