Had a hen do for 20 people on the 12th April. Preordered gluten free meals for the coeliac bride and the other coeliac members in her bridal party. The food we preordered said it was gluten free and it was made very very clear that specific members were gluten free. We had been in the restaurant around an hour and a half before we were told that all the food that was ‘gluten free’ on the allergen list wasn’t actually gluten free. We had to practically beg the servers to feed the bride something on her own hen do! We had to go to the bar to order our drinks because no one came over for a drinks order and no one cleared our starters or our main courses and the people in our hen do party didn’t even get the deserts that they preordered before the server put our bill on the table and walked away! On top of all that, they had the cheek to leave the service charge on the bill after no plates got cleared and no orders were taken! The food on top of all that was horrific, never had worse macaroni cheese in my life! Not a single person had a nice meal and our bride was thoroughly let down and barely ate anything after the only reason we went to turtle bay in the first place was because we had heard good things and their gluten free options were good and they weren’t even gluten free! Never had a worse meal in my life. Ruined the brides hen do. Don’t ever go here. At least the staff were nice enough and did what they could to rectify the situation but not...

I want to start off by saying, I am never one to post negative reviews. However, my friends and I are visiting Glasgow and we passed this restaurant the night before and agreed that we would all come for brunch the following day. Upon walking in we were greeted by the lady in the photo below. Immediately upon coming in she had a nasty attitude asking if we booked a table. We let her know that we did not because we didn’t know if we needed one. She immediately started tapping the screen aggressively looking through the available tables. She then got up mad-like storming through the restaurant to seat up while saying smart comments under her breath. she slammed our menus down and we took a seat looking at each-other, confused on why she was giving us attitude. she then comes back and aggressively places the silverware bucket on the table. as she was walking away she then whispered something to our waiter. Overall this made us all super uncomfortable. My thing is we were just trying to eat and enjoy the vibes the restaurant was offering but ended up being super uncomfortable. we watched her with other customers and she was picky on who she was nice to and provided good customer service to. Overall the restaurant and food were good our only problem was with...

Attended as a large group for a boozy brunch. Food was average but no real issue. The service however..... I appreciate we were part of a large table but not a good start when you wait almost an hour for first round of drinks and your waitress tells you it was because she was 20 mins for her shift... The speed of service was disastrously slow and we had to argue our case to be allowed to get all of our drinks allowed on the boozy brunch. We regularly sat for over 20 mins with empty glasses trying to get the waitress attention. I would say on average of took 40mins to order and receive each round of drinks. It was clear they were understaffed for such a busy Saturday afternoon. On one occasion we did not receive the drinks we ordered and were soon informed by the waitress that bar staff were arguing with her and did not want to remake the drinks. Not most professional approach. The staff we did encounter were all friendly though it has to be said. It was all just such an effort and therefore not enjoyable at all. I won't be persuaded to go back...

A Disappointing First Visit to Turtle Bay My first visit to Turtle Bay in Glasgow was, unfortunately, a huge disappointment. I'd heard a lot about it, but the reality didn't live up to the hype. The surroundings definitely give off a vibrant Caribbean vibe, but that's where the good experience ended. As a party of three, we all chose different dishes from the menu: the Seafood Bowl, the Goat Curry, and the Kingston Fried Chicken. The goat curry was the biggest letdown—it was very fatty, with a couple of lumps of fat about an inch square. It was not appetising at all. While the other two dishes were enjoyed at the time, we were even more disappointed when two of our party were unwell overnight. To top it all off, the service was lacking. Our waiter didn't seem to have much of a clue about things. After our meal, we ordered two coffees and a tea, only to be told—if you can believe it—that there was no milk or cream in the building. All in all, it was not a great experience. I'm sorry to say there's no recommendation from me this time.

We visited Turtle Bay on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Somehow, despite there being few people around the place still managed to maintain a colorful, vibrant atmosphere. The decor really lends that West Indian feel, as do the sweet Reggae beats playing in the background. The staff were friendly and attentive. Laura, our server was particularly nice... Top marks! Food wise I wasn't sure what to expect as I've never tried Carribbean cuisine before. I was, it must be said, very impressed. My partner and I shared sweetcorn fritters and crispy squid for starters. For our mains I tried the Shack Stack burger, whilst the missus had the Kingston chicken with Mac and cheese... The food was dynamite! Couldn't recommend it any more. If you're in the city and looking for some top grub come to Turtle Bay... You won't be disappointed.
