Very accommodating ....the bestie and I hadn't booked but we were slotted in to a recently vacated table without an issue. We commenced the culinary experience with poppadums and relishes - missing out the lime pickle which is a bit too fiery even for Bestie's palate. She followed these by onion thingy's ...(sincere apologies, I don't know how to spell the name) which were well recieved - I just watched!!. I then had a Korma as I am unable to have 'hot' and 'spicy' food....my poor old tum can't cope these days (it's my tablets!!). I was a little disappointed to find my usually creamy mild Korma had a little too much of a kick to it for me and I have to admit I struggled to work my way through it. I was however well pleased with the Peshwari Nan and Pilau rice which accompanied the Korma...they helped me to munch my way through the heat!! As usual, soft drinks were the order of the day...designated driver as per usual! I find it disappointing these days that no matter where you go to eat, soft drinks are so expensive compared to those of a more alcoholic nature....I thought we were supposed to be encouraging responsible drinking....having high prices for soft drinks does not help that cause! - sorry, that was a more general soap box moment! ...back to the Qismat!!...my Bestie was assisted in deciding on a new flavour to try by the knowledgeable and helpful staff and armed with good dish-specific information, she chose a dish different to her 'usual' one! Sadly can't tell you what it was.. but it looked very interesting and she certainly enjoyed it as far as I could see! These mains finished, we were too full for a desert....opting not to even look at the menu for fear of overindulgence! We chatted animatedly while finishing our soft drinks in slow time....we had no pressure to finish and go and pay up! The bill was reasonable given the food consumed and the comments regarding the cost of soft drinks. I need to remember to ask for a really mild Korma next time...or maybe I'll be brave and branch out like my Bestie did this time..... maybe ..maybe not!! -...
ย ย ย Read moreWent with some family members for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Lunch was lovely as always. Like the new look of the restaurant, fresh & airy feel to it. Staff were polite. However, after our meal I nipped into the toilet before we left. I was sat on the toilet & the light went out. Didn't think much of it, thought it was a mistake? It was pitch dark as there are no windows in there. I couldn't see a thing. I managed to wash my hands, made my way to come out, couldn't open the door! After a few attempts to open it I was panicking (as I'm clostraphobic). I managed to open it, until I came out to another door, pitch black I yelled 'help' no reply? After a time of trying the door (couldn't see my hand in front of my face) I finally managed to get out to find the restaurant empty, luckily the waiter was there putting his coat on to leave, had to unlock the entrance door for me. I was never so relieved to get outside. I was in a fluster! Wasn't a nice experience! To be fair they should check to toilets to see if anybody was in there? I have been since, but went before I went in lol This happened a couple of weeks ago. Went in today, was going to tell the owner, but he was on his phone as we were leaving. So I didn't want...
ย ย ย Read moreLovely meal and very tasty however when the bill came they over charged us by ยฃ20! I kept one menu so we could all work out how much we owed at the end and when we added ours up compared to what they then charged was a ยฃ20 discrepancy. We asked about it as we ended up writing everything we had down plus drinks, everything and they said we were charged for each popadom (fair enough) but then charged also for the dips per head even though not all of us had any popadoms but even then that would only be and extra ยฃ5 ish not ยฃ20 but we noticed on their bill to us that they added ยฃ1 for each curry which was ยฃ6 in total for no reason which even then would only total around ยฃ11. We even clarified if they added a service charge which they didnโt so it really wasnโt adding up. They spent ages adding up what we had already done and showed them almost to see if they could add up to the price they charged us instead of the one we actually should pay for and couldnโt so ended up charging for what we ate not for the added extras that we never had. So watch out for this restaurant! Keep a menu and add up because that seems to be how they make their money! I definitely wonโt be...
