Arrived at The Gardener on Sunday 7th of July at around 4pm with six family members. We received a warm welcome from a friendly member of staff and she showed us to our tables. Soon after sitting down we ordered and received a round of drinks. A short time later we ordered food. I opted for the "Roast Scotch Beef" at £19. My partner ordered the "Southern Fried Cod". I was expecting a Roast Beef dinner but what I received was more like two fatty steaks. 🤮 Now I'm sure some people are and would be delighted to receive steaks but I wasn't and their menu ought to be clearer. I didn't think I needed to ask though perhaps the steep price should have made me think it would be something more than just Roast Beef. 🤔 Anyway, I didn't eat much of the steaks and the remainder of the plate contents were very disappointing as the "Duck Fat Roast Potatoes" were uncooked on the inside and charred on the outside. Really horrible! There weren't any "Braised Red Cabbage" or "Creamed Leeks" and the other "Roasted Roots" were under cooked and cold too. Even the Yorkshire Puddings were undercooked and doughy. My partner and another family member had the Southern Fried Cod which they understandably expected would be a slice of Cod with a Southern Fried coating but instead they received a slice of Cod (with skin on) and both say it was cold on the inside. Neither can understand it being called Southern Fried. Other family members had problems too, mainly with things being under cooked or cold. We were under time pressure to be elsewhere by 6pm or we would have complained. It's obvious that the Chef was under time pressure too. Perhaps they need several Chefs to enable them to cope better. Perhaps the Chef had the day off and someone else thought they'd try their hand at cooking - if so then they failed miserably! Unless you visit The Gardner to eat when it is "Very Quiet" and order a "Simple Dish" from the menu then it's highly likely that you'll be disappointed! I wouldn't and couldn't recommend eating there though the staff and atmosphere are very good.

The visit was during the Christmas holiday and may have contributed to the quietness of the restaurant. The food was ok but I found the onion rings a little greasy for my taste. The smashed burger was huge and my companion could only eat half. They made a chicken Caesar salad which wasn’t on the menu inside but had been shown on the menu outside. The salad was well received but beware it comes with actual anchovies. I had the chicken burger which was nice but again huge.

Stopped by this gem for a light brunch/ late breakfast and a cheeky aperol spritz. Our experience here couldn’t have been any more welcoming and pleasant on our first dining experience in Scotland. The food was so fresh and delicious and the service by Rachel was wonderful, such friendly and welcoming waitress and helped us with advice regarding our trip in Glasgow. Would definitely recommend and will return if we come back to Glasgow!

We came here today after our morning in Glasgow. We saw this place and thought it looked amazing from the outside! We walked in and were greeted from 2 lovely ladies behind the counter. We sat, ordered our drinks and about 10 mins later our cocktail and pepsi were brought out and our food order was taken. About 35 mins/40 mins later our food came out. We were disappointed that the food was cold - we were really hungry and decided we didn't want to wait on them cooking the food again but didn't say anything. The chips were similar to the microwave chips you can purchase at Asda. When the food was brought over, I asked for another cocktail. 15 mins later when we had finished our food the drink had still not been brought out (only us and 2 other tables in that we saw) and we were just ready to leave. It was clear we had been forgotten about a few times as the lady often came around the corner and said 'oh, I'll get _' and then never brought it. We went up to pay, and the drink I had ordered wasn't even being made, the lady admitted she forgot about it. I mentioned I was a bit annoyed about not having a beverage with my food and we were so keen to get going we never mentioned the food either - if I'm being honest they didn't look like they were bothered if we mentioned it or not.

Overall, even though the restaurant is absolutely stunning, we were disappointed with our...

This may be the worse food and service I have received in Glasgow!

We went on a Saturday around 2 o’clock and the place was pretty quiet. Despite being roughly 7 member of staff on we waited over 20 minutes to order and had to ask for the table to be wiped. 2 coffees came out and another about 10 minutes later a long with a water. We waited over 40 minutes for food for it to come out cold. I ordered a soup and sandwhich and was honestly shocked at the portion size, for £10 it was a kids sized bowl and a sandwhich that I honestly thought was a half portion. I rarely complain but actually questioned if the other half had been forgotten. The pizza that was order had no sauce so was basically crust with a few topping and burnt in the middle so broke into crumbs when cut up. We felt too awkward to complain as we were still waiting to get the soup heated up and after 20 minutes everyone had finished so I just cancelled the order. We were a party of 4 and everything was cold and just dissapointing. When I spoke to the server she started huffing and wouldn’t even look at me as I was paying and just chatted to another colleague behind the bar. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a poor experience in an establishment of this size. There is so much good food in Glasgow so definetly choose...
