Horrible experience! Would not recommend this place. Just visited for some lunch today. Out shopping for bridesmaids dresses and needed a quick bite to eat. The manager (female, with long dark hair) took our food and non alcoholic drink order. Then came over to our table 5 minutes later and said she had to see our ID. 4 of us over 21 and one 16 Year old. I explained we didn't want to buy alcohol just food. The girl was rude and said we couldn't eat there due to their licence. I asked why because in every restaurant, bar and old man's pub in town you can be under 18 and eat food during the day. She didn't have an an answer just shrugged her shoulders rolled her eyes and said well that's our licence! Could someone please enlighten me as I have never heard of this type of made up licence before. We happily left because frankly her poor customer service would make you want to leave the place! Nowhere did it say you had to be over 18 to buy food on a Sunday afternoon and when we first arrived she could have said then (which would have been the sensible idea) Nope she waited til we sat down and ordered food.
So off to lauders we go. Which is a pub/ restaurant for anyone who doesn't know. where the food is lovely and so are the staff. Couldn't be any different to the dump...
Read moreIt's a rock pub, it does what it says on the tin. It's plays good loud music, has a pool table, good selection of booze, cool staff, decent food and is full of rockers, metalheads, weirdos and geeks (aka my kind of people).
It's a staple on nights out for me and others along with the Solid Rock but Rufus is easier to talk in as it's not as loud as the Solid. Unusually for me, I can easilly spend all night in Rufus without getting bored or itchy feet wanting to move on somewhere else. The staff are great, even on crazy busy nights when they're run ragged, and the punters are just my kind of people. Between the staff and punters, Rufus has a great feel to the atmosphere: loud but friendly. It's why we keep going back. It's one of my top 3 bars in Glasgow and that's an easy thing to judge as it's probably the one we keep going back to again and again.
It's not a posh place, it's not artisan anything or hipster pretentious, it does what it says on the tin: it's a rock pub...
Read moreFirst time here last month (Saturday night in Glasgow) and I came in to meet a friend and whilst I was waiting they had my favourite film on (saving private Ryan) and my kinda music as well as some Guinness for the Irish person I am. It was perfect. I would have gladly sat there myself to watch the film and have some drinks! I enjoyed the kinder flavoured drinks too (white Russian?) The atmosphere was very good and I really had a lovely time there… my friend wanted to leave (I secretly hated him at this point) but to be a good pal I went with him but seriously I wanted to spend my evening here! Next time :) especially if there’s such great films playing like epic war films or something similar.
Best time thank you! 🖤🖤✨that was my first night out in town In about 1.5 years so...
