I attended my friend's graduation yesterday evening and decided to celebrate the event with a meal at zizzis leopald square in Sheffield. There were a total of 17 of us altogether and decided to visit here as we had heard good things. As soon as we were arrived we were greeted by a lady who couldn't even be bothered to look up from the tablet she was using. No smile, no general acknowledgement of the evening festivities and it definitely set the tone for the rest of the nights customer service wise. There was an offer on a 3 course meal for £26.50 which most of us decided to have. As it was rather a large party the arrival of guests were scattered and some of us were rather hungry. We asked the waitress if we were able to go ahead and order our starters, then wait to order our mains when the rest of the party arrived. She seemed less than impressed with this request and said it would be confusing for the chefs and herself if we didn't all order together. Now I understand this being a bit of a nuisance but the restaurant was far from busy so I don't understand why she wouldn't be able to remember who had what. There were only about 3 of us that wanted our starters a little earlier. It's was hardly rocket science to even make a note of who had ordered but she really did actually less than impressed which I think is unprofessional as I've worked in hospitality myself and generally when a customer makes a request we go out of our way to fulfill it, unless they are being abusive/violent, which we were not. Throughout the evening the waiting staff kept bringing dishes we hadn't ordered or forgot to bring certain things that were ordered. All of them were in my opinion very rude and acted as though we were an inconvenience. If it wasn't for the number of people and everyone of the party being there to celebrate our friends achievement the night, this could have totally ruined this special day for her. The standard of food was mostly good but some dishes were rather pitiful at best. With zizzis having the reputation for top quality food some of it I could have made at home in the microwave and with the prices they were asking I was left very disappointed. If the terrible customer service and bland food wasn't bad enough when it came time to settle the bill there was a discrepancy of £50 being messing after everyone had settled the own contributions. It took a while to get to the bottom of this and on the whole I felt as though they were being very judgemental and treating us like children. I for one am very disappointed by this dining experience and will go elsewhere were in the future. I suggest your staff getting better training on customer be service going...
Read moreWe came here after watching Russel Howard live at our first EVER trip to Sheffield, and sadly it did not live up to usual standards in my hometown of Birmingham. First of all we were placed in the middle of the dining area after leaving booking notes stating we would prefer a quieter/corner table. Second of all our server appeared to be either in training or recently employed as he was slow and made us repeat everything twice(my partner does have a deep voice but 8I never usually have to translate my own partner to a waiter). (His name was Finlay and he served us this Sunday Evening just gone). When ordering our drinks we waited for around 10minutes for them to arrive but unfortunately when they did arrive, they weren’t the drinks we had ordered so we had to then wait for our actual drinks. When making our order, my partner ordered a lasagne but chose to “go big” on this and rather rudely the server said “oh really” which was rather unnecessary and rather condescending. It took our meals around half an hour to come. Once our meals had arrived we were surprised to see the lasagne we requested to go big on, was a normal, average lasagne. Yet they still had us pay for this addition on the bill. Not once whilst eating were we asked lf our meal was okay. In fact we had to wait till our server returned so we could ask for the bill. When paying for our bill, our server was rather unprofessional and rather than asking if our meal was okay or whether we had a nice time he instead greeted us by asking “can i just get you to say Up the Villa for me?” Clearly asking due to our Birmingham accent. We wouldnt have minded this question had he have shown any concern/care to our evening or experience. He seemed to instead be going about his evening how he wished. The food was satisfactory for the price and if youre in Sheffield and fancy italian I would recommend you got Ask Italian instead as everything there was perfect and we had wished we chose there for our evening dinner rather than our lunch...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible. When we arrived, we had to wait for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. To make matters worse, other customers who arrived after us were greeted first. It made me feel like we weren't valued as customers at all. Once we were finally seated, we were asked to order using a QR code while other customers were allowed to order in the traditional way. It was frustrating not to have anyone to answer our questions or address any concerns we had about the menu or our order because of this ordering method, while other customers are having a completely different experience. We felt completely disregarded and unsupported by the staff. Throughout our meal, no one checked in on us to see how our food was or if we needed anything. It made me feel like we were being completely ignored. To make matters worse, when I tried to ask the server for a box to pack our food to go, they completely ignored me and walked right past me. It was incredibly rude and made me feel like I was invisible. I have to say, the overall experience was really bad. The staff seemed to have no regard for us as customers, and it showed in the way they treated us. I would caution anyone considering dining at this restaurant to be prepared for a really poor experience. If you're looking for good service and a pleasant dining experience, I would suggest...
