PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Sheffield

Definitely could have been a better experience this time. The manager mentioned when I went to pay that there was a robbery during our visit which is why there was poor service so assuming that is true I will not be too harsh. So after I had finished my starter and main (which I ordered, arrived and finished in about half an hour) I was waiting for someone to come over with the dessert menu. After about 40 minutes, I decided to go up and grab my own dessert menu and then waited another 20 minutes before going up to the waiter to ask if I could order dessert. They said yes I'll come over in a minute in which I then had to wait another 15 minutes for them to come over where they then took the order of the table next to me first and then proceeded to tell me that they only had two desserts for me to choose from, so there was no point for me waiting so long in the first place if they had mentioned that from the beginning and I could have left earlier. They explained that they were on their own (while the manager was sorting the robbery in the back) but surely even on your own I shouldn't have to wait an hour for a waiter to be able to get around to me. It's not like the restaurant was packed either. They just seemed to be prioritising the other half of the restaurant.

21/11/22 - Update: I went again today, after a graduation ceremony. I had a table booked for 4 at 12:30pm but got there a bit early at 12:10pm. Got seated very quickly though as they had only opened 40 minutes ago and there was one other table maybe two already in there. Food was great but it took so long to get everything. Ordered some Dough Balls Al Forno, Regular Dough Balls, Garlic Prawn Pizza and Tiramisu. All with a drink. Left the restaurant at about 2pm, and that was with prompts for the bill and where our food was etc. The people that served us were lovely, I'm not faulting their attitude at all but when it comes to serving us quickly it just wasn't...

Visited twice (Friday and Sunday) after updating app and having VIP email for 50% off pizzas until 25 January. On Sunday, I entered the restaurant and was fairly quickly welcomed and I suggested a table where I could sit on a comfortable material seat with high back i.e. at the edge of the restaurant. I chose what I wanted and there seemed to be a slight delay in being noticed, with one server cleaning a table when many tables were available that were already cleaned. But I wasn't too miffed, although I did have to meet a friend afterwards so typically in a bit of a hurry. The waitress was the same person who served me on Friday and the drink delivery was mega fast and the pizza came within a very reasonable amount of time and was freshly cooked and warm. It was the first time I had tried the La Cubana and it was nice to have some different flavours and spices. I paid using cash as I wanted a £5 note in my change. As I am new to using the app, the waitress was very helpful in showing me what to do on my mobile phone app. I had left the waitress a £2 tip on Friday and so did the same on Sunday although didn't get to have the thanks and see you later conversation as waitress was in the back somewhere. But overall I enjoy pizza and the size of the Romana bases are very good although I noted that prices had risen since last time I visited...

Service was VERY slow and food wasn't great when it eventually arrived.

We were seated just before 6pm and explained we needed to by around the corner (5 mins walk) at the Lycem for a show at 7.15. Waitress assured us this wasn't a problem, especailly if just having pizza & took our drinks order then we didn't see her again for another 15mins, when she did return with the drinks we ordered 3 straight forward pizzas. These still hadn't arrived by 6.40 so we were starting to worry but kept being reasurred they were on their way. They eventally arrived over cooked and one was burnt underneath, the waitress asked if we wanted them remaking but as it was 6.55 we had no option but to eat them... quickly! We asked for the bill as we were still eating as we knew we needed to hotfoot it around the corner to the theatre. This never came and I had to go for walk around the resturant to find a member of staff, they were not short staffed just all in one corner messing about and chatting with each other. No appologes or discount. We made it to the theatre as the doors closed and were seated as the show started thankfully although we all sat through the 1st half with indigestion!
