(Celiac/Gluten Free requiring person) I thought I'd write a review since I don't think anyone else who needs GF has. They are very good and astute with this dietary requirement, having a separate toaster etc. just for their GF bread, which is a relief because getting breakfast out is always the scariest kind of eating-out in my situation. Their GF bread is also excellent, either baked or bought from an actual baker.
The food in general here is great, in terms of British/European breakfast/lunch food I haven't seen a better place for it in Lancashire. I'm a local poor person so it is a little out of my price range except as a treat, but among "upmarket brunch" food places the pricing is honestly lower than most of them, and the quality is much better in terms of ingredients and prep. Considering rent and costs I know the prices are certainly reasonable, and you can eat and drink a coffee there for around £10 still. The chef does everything with a little flair which I appreciate, even if it's just scrambled eggs on toast.
Also for the record, in terms of decor it's very cozy and in terms of atmosphere both the staff and clientele are very sweet. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys really good...
Read moreI booked a table for a Saturday night as I'd been given some vouchers. Unfortunately their website doesn't make it clear that you have to order the deli platter 2 days in advance, so sadly we couldn't experience that and the rest of the menu was very limited. My table was reserved for 6:30 and when we arrived there were people already sat at it. When the waiter asked them to move (after 3 bottles of prosecco) they didn't want to! He walked away leaving us to sort it out. Not impressed at all. Our food went around the restaurant twice before getting to us, so it was cold. Then when I went to settle the bill there was nothing on our tab except the last round of drinks. Being too honest for own good I explained this to the lady on the til and paid in full. All in all not a good experience, very chaotic and not a venue that I'll be returning to any time soon. Shame, especially as it was a present....
Read moreWe waited 40 minutes for our food order to arrive. After 30 minutes I got up and pointed out to a waitress that we still hadn’t received our order when several other customers who had ordered after us had. She said that she would check on our order but the chef was on their own which frankly was not our problem. There was also no apology. Our food arrived 10 minutes later (some 40 minutes after ordering it); a soup and a salad. The waitress set it down with a half hearted apology stating that food orders are prepared according to ease of preparation; what could be easier than putting together a salad and warming up a bowl of soup?! At this point my husband sent his salad back, asking the member of staff to ‘go away’. There was also no cutlery brought to the table. I got up with my bowl of soup, returned it to the counter and got a full refund. Needless to say we will not...
