I had the pleasure of dining at Grandad's Fish and Chips last weekend, and I must say, it was a delightful experience that transported me straight to the heart of traditional British cuisine with a warm, welcoming touch. From the moment I stepped inside, the cozy, nostalgic decor made me feel right at home, reminiscent of visits to my own grandparents' house. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The menu, though straightforward, promised authentic flavors, and it did not disappoint. The fish, a beautifully cooked piece of cod, was encased in a light, crispy batter that sang with each bite. It was perfectly seasoned, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine through. The chips were a revelation—fluffy on the inside, golden and crisp on the outside, and just the right side of salty. Together, they were a match made in heaven. But what truly set Grandad's Fish and Chips apart was the palpable sense of pride and care in their food. It wasn't just about serving fish and chips; it was about upholding a beloved tradition. Their homemade tartar sauce and mushy peas were the perfect accompaniments, each adding layers of flavor that complemented the main dish beautifully. The ambiance was equally delightful, with a warm, friendly buzz that made us linger longer than we had planned. It felt like being part of a community, not just a customer in a restaurant. The owner, who introduced himself with a hearty handshake, shared stories of the restaurant's history and his personal connection to the recipes, adding a rich tapestry of stories to our meal. In an age where dining often feels rushed and impersonal, Grandad's Fish and Chips is a breath of fresh air. It's not just the nostalgia that will bring me back, but the impeccable quality of the food and the sense of belonging that seems to envelop you the moment you walk in. For anyone craving an authentic fish and chips experience with a side of heartwarming hospitality, Grandad's is a must-visit.

Didn't like it at all and my work mate didn't either. The chips were ok but the sausage was vile, cheap nasty and way over done. The mushy peas had next to no colour or taste ... Really disappointing as I was hungry and looking forward to it after reading the good review. Safe to say I'll never be back 🙅🏻‍♂️

Used to be a great chippy but rapidly gone down hill. This is not just once this has happened. Used to go here often. I had not been for a while but went in for a takeaway. The food was bland and lots of chips were cold like they'd been sat for a period of time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt due to previous good experience. I called in again a week or so later and experienced similar food. Shame cause this used to be a good chippy. They seem to not care anymore about standard of food. This chippy was far better when the man who owned it was always singing whilst frying. If you want a decent Chippy lunch try Salty Towers...

Just took my eldest lads for simple chippy dinner and it was disgusting!!! The chips were strangely chewy, we all ordered large but portions were inconsistent. One of my sons dinner- he had half hot and half cold chips. Should of known it wouldn’t be great when I realised how sticky the chairs were and dirty table number signs. We were asked if we enjoyed our lunch and we were honest and said no - they said it was the potatoes fault. Shame really as this was an excellent establishment a few years ago which is why...
