This cafe is well talked about and very popular with the locals. It's a hidden gem of Stockport. If you like a Sunday afternoon tea this is the place. Lots of little cakes and good quality tea, the thing to have is the teared plates. But will set you back 15 per person. But well worth it. Little sandwiches. Nice. It's all art deco... so it makes you feel like you should dress up to visit!! Service is quite posh here. Love the 1930 feel.

Wonderful Art Deco cafe with good old-fashioned service. Accessible by mobility scooter but don't be surprised when the cosy lift opens sideways on the first floor! Food is good but how could they have run out of rarebit ?!

We opted against the afternoon tea on a Saturday at midday so can't comment on that aspect, but the "famous" bacon sandwich was undercooked and floppy, and the sausage sandwich was over done. Yes we could have sent them back but let's be realistic here. They were edible but not memorable.

In fairness to this review, the crumpets were very good, as were the tea and coffee.

The cake selection looked on the mass produced side, who knows if this is the case but in can't imagine they are made on site.

I also felt the service let the place down too, the staff were nice enough and I can't fault that element... What let's them down is their general awareness of the stages the customer is at. It took far too long to place orders or chase a bill.

I think with a little more thought and some proper advertising, this place could be a real gem, but for me it relies too heavily on its historical status, and not enough on making it a special place to...

My friend was visiting Stockport for the first time and I knew straightaway where to take her for lunch that was unique to our understated historic townThe plaza did not disappoint. We had a wonderful afternoon tea in the tasteful and quaint tearoom with the comforting sounds of pre-war music playing softly in the background. My friend was so impressed with my choice of venue. We bumped into acquaintances of mine who regaled her with Stockport’s fascinating history and then on leaving, recommended the roulade for our next visit. They dine here every Friday.I had my 40th here and it was brilliant. I don’t visit enough but will be doing more. The volunteers do an amazing job. We...

This was a return visit as we have eaten here on several times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff attentive and welcoming. On this occasion we booked a table (always advisable) for a friend's birthday lunch. The menu is varied with a good choice of both hot and cold items. The food freshly prepared and always worth the wait. When you visit make sure to leave room for dessert but making a decision is not easy ! 😉If you are looking for a venue for a special event or just fancy treating yourself, I highly recommend you pay them a visit. Thanks again to all staff for a fantastic afternoon and see you...
