The Plaza Stockport Café — Restaurant in Stockport

We opted against the afternoon tea on a Saturday at midday so can't comment on that aspect, but the "famous" bacon sandwich was undercooked and floppy, and the sausage sandwich was over done. Yes we could have sent them back but let's be realistic here. They were edible but not memorable.

In fairness to this review, the crumpets were very good, as were the tea and coffee.

The cake selection looked on the mass produced side, who knows if this is the case but in can't imagine they are made on site.

I also felt the service let the place down too, the staff were nice enough and I can't fault that element... What let's them down is their general awareness of the stages the customer is at. It took far too long to place orders or chase a bill.

I think with a little more thought and some proper advertising, this place could be a real gem, but for me it relies too heavily on its historical status, and not enough on making it a special place to...

This was a return visit as we have eaten here on several times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff attentive and welcoming. On this occasion we booked a table (always advisable) for a friend's birthday lunch.The menu is varied with a good choice of both hot and cold items. The food freshly prepared and always worth the wait.
