Stayed a night with our dog in the room called Meadow. Practical double room with basic ensuite shower & toilet. Best bit about the room was the private outside patio area accessed directly from the room - very handy with a dog! But (with a bit of tlc, anyway) it would be lovely in nice weather. The stars I didn't award reflect the overall need for maintenance around the place rather than the level of service (friendly staff, both in the morning and evening) or the food, which was mainly delicious (mashed potato aside, which seemed almost like preprepared, at complete odds with the rest of the grub which was clearly fresh, and tasty!). Even the bedsheets had seen better days, and although they were clearly freshly laundered, weren't really fit for purpose any more (tears and stains). We could have done with staying an extra night (it was a business trip...) but the hotel was fully booked so we couldn't, which suggests that it is popular enough that new sheets should be within the budget 🤷🏼‍♀️... Overall, a good place to stay, and definitely worth having food! Gluten free & soya milk wasn't a problem either. Photos of small Gammon and Pineapple and Chicken pie and gravy... Yum!

I stayed at The Clothiers with my wife for 3 nights while I was on a course in Stroud. The room (Meadow) was excellent, nicely decorated, and with a comfortable bed. The road outside is busy during the daytime, but the traffic dies down early in the evenings, so it's quiet during the night, and it gets properly dark as well, which is a bonus. Food was excellent also, good quality, locally produced where possible, and you get lots of it! Oh, and very reasonably priced, especially the £7.50 main courses from the "Specials" board, although these are only available for the first part of the evening. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. Really good. The restaurant got really busy most evenings we were there, so it's a good idea to book. On the whole, it was a really good experience.

We stayed here for a weekend whilst visiting Stroud with friends. The staff are really welcoming and checked us in very quickly and took us to rooms upstairs. Room was quite spacious with ensuite with shower. Good night sleep so bed was obviously good. The breakfast is served 8 to 10am and you can just show up rather than pre-book. The scrambled eggs on toast was delicious, but full English also available. The bar was a little cold but they served a great pint of Butcombe which made up for the chill.

Lunch time visit. Very disappointed with my Caesar Salad, almost tasteless.Dressing was very thin and no hint of anchovy or garlic.Tasted more like a poor mayo.No taste of garlic, quite the worse one that I have ever tasted. The waitress said that lots of people do not like Anchovies so in that case they would not be having this type of salad.I will enclose a recipe for the sauce in case Harry would like it .Go to the Pilot Inn and try their's.!!!!! A classic dressing recipe for a Caesar salad made with garlic, lemon, Dijon mustard, anchovies and extra virgin olive oil. Well mixed. And serve Anchovies and shavings of Parmesan Cheese as well.!!! Copy of this sent to the Pilot Inn. I I In reply to your answer. I did complain as soon as I started to eat it.The waitress said that you were the chef that day and you did not serve anchovies as people did not like them!! I then asked her about the dressing as it tasted and looked like vinegary mayonnaise !, She said that it was correct!!

As I was with company I did not want to cause them any further embarrassment I thought two complaints without any satisfaction...

Went for lunch on a Sunday 12pm, just after opening with my wife and nan, there was a bit of a rush of customers, but staff handled very well.

We had olives and mozzarella stick for starters which were very good. I had the Jack Daniels burger which was excellent and good sized meal, my nan had the classic which again was excellent and she was unable to finish so I helped 😀. My wife had the large chicken and chorizo panini, again was excellent and too big for her to finish, so again I attempted to help finish.

Overall excellent service and food, the only reason I've not given 5 stars is because the rush of customers when we arrived. I've visited here a few times of many years and would always recommend.

To future customers I would recommend arriving an hour or two after opening as once the opening/lunch time rush was over it was a much better atmosphere.

Wish I took pictures of food...
