Ordered a takeaway through the online system at 17:30 to collect ASAP. Received an email confirmation telling me to collect at 18:11. I turned up 5 minutes early and was obviously expecting a small wait before leaving with the food.
The restaurant was around 60% full, I made myself known, paid and was told to sit at a table near the bar to wait for my food.
10 minutes went by and I looked at who I presume was the owner aswell as multiple bar staff and either nothing was said/gestured, or they simply turned away.
20 minutes went by and I must have been invisible, because nobody told me what was going on, how much longer I would be waiting, nothing. Meanwhile they continued to serve other customers and interact with them whilst I sat like a spectre near the bar.
35 minutes past and I went to the bar knowing that even if they had started preparing the food the minute I walked in it would have been ready by now, so something was obviously wrong.
Sick of watching diners go through course after course whilst wondering what was real anymore - I went to the bar and told them I would wait outside as the restaurant was very warm and for them to come and get me when it was ready. I was astonished when they actually acknowledged me because it meant they could in fact see me and I hadn't turned completely opaque.
I stood outside for around a minute before a member of staff came out and produced my takeaway almost like a rabbit out of a hat, but instead of "Abra Cadabra" he simply said "We were waiting on the naan breads". He would've fooled me if it wasn't for the fact I know a naan bread takes a mere 4-6 minutes to cook, so unless my naan bread endured a 29 minute wait like I did, I think that was a lie.
My spirit rejoined my dormant hungry body and I left with the package over an hour and 10 minutes after initially ordering without so much as an apology for my wait.
I've awarded 2 stars as although the wait slowly sent me a bit crazy, the food was very good....

I try to visit here every week if time allows and my visit this week didn’t disappoint.
When we you walk into this wonderfully designed and decorated establishment you know that every detail and thought was made before the doors were opened.
The staff greet you with smiles and a hidden joy, they’re always doing something but have time to greet everyone that walks through their doors.
This week I ordered a Mixed Lamb and chicken Phall, which as you should know is the hottest dish available in any Indian restaurant or takeaway. The weather has been cold in the northeast of England this week and I needed something to blow away the cobwebs from the freezing weather.
Usually, I sit and browse through my phone, but this week I just took the time to gaze around at the diners here and was enthusiastic by what they were eating. Its great here as everyone chooses different combinations of food and there’s always a sea of picturesque tables lavished with sumptuous food, prepared fresh.
My order appeared and I made my way home as I had to be out two hours later, back on the train to cover a venue in Newcastle. I unpacked my meal, plated up and again 5-star food from a place I have grown to love.
This fiery but flavoursome dish didn’t disappoint, it never does. The combination on the plate blows my mind as well as my tastebuds, the meat succulent and always expertly prepared, and the sauce comes with a delicate but awakening reminder of history with its herbs and spices.
Pictures included. I rate Mumbai Silk 10/10 every time for innovation, courtesy, food service and production, customer service, quality of food, location, and friendliness.

Read moreFirst visit here, and if it was closer to home, I'd most definitely be back. Up further north for a few days, and this spot is just around the corner from where we're staying. It was recommended to us by a friend, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
The place is lovely inside - a lot of money has obviously been spent on doing it up; the decor is modern with an old twist. There's plenty of tables and lots of space.
The menu is vast, or so I thought, with lots to choose from. We didn't have a starter, just the obligatory poppadoms and pickle tray. These came beautifully presented, and the onion mix - wow, I could have eaten the whole dish it was really, really tasty. For my main, I asked for a dry dish (no oil or ghee due to being on a "diet" again). They suggested a chicken tikka dish. I ordered boiled rice as an accompaniment. When it arrived, it was sizzling away! Rice is rice, but it was also served with a lovely fresh side salad, too, and a pot of mint yoghurt. ALL was absolutely delicious, and if I hadn't gotten so full, I'd have had an empty plate.
A lovely visit to a lovely restaurant. Thank you, and hopefully, I may see...
