My worst ever experience at Nandos Tamworth
It was on Saturday 24 August 2024 after we had a fantastic experience enjoying all our family activities at Mamco Funscape that we went to eat at Nandos Tamworth at the retail park. We were extended families of 10. As soon as we entered the restaurant which was nearly empty, a female waitress came over to us and I asked her to have a table for 10. She showed me a middle table full of clusters and not cleaned yet to be ready for the next customer. She barely did anything but sprayed cleaning chemical and expected us to sit without even wiping it. I asked politely her if we could sit at the corner where there were 10 tables for two's which were clean and ready to sit at. Her reply was shocking and she literally said "you better sit here as we will get busy soon". I demanded to sit where we wanted as the tables were not reserved we were there first. It should be first come first serve. She went to her senior or supervisor Joe to ask for help. He came and supported what his colleague was saying. Shocking enough he said "I prefer you sit here as we get busy soon". At that point, it was very clear to me that we should not eat there. The next thing Joe would say is probably that he prefers we should eat this and that and drink this and that. I had no time for that asked all our families out of there. We went next door to the Five Guys. The food was fantastic and the customer service from the staff was outstanding. It was just brilliant and we spent £168.75 there. Good value for money.
There are only two possible logical reasons for Joe and his colleague to act this way. One is that they have no basic understanding of customer service and behaves towards everyone same way. Two is that they are racist thugs in disguise at Nandos Tamworth. Whichever it may be, it is shame on Nandos Tamworth to employ them to destroy their reputation unless they all are same minded. Customer is always right and can take the business elsewhere in an ever increasingly competitive environment. You need to be grateful for every customer walking through your door and treat with professional respectful way.
To your surprise, my brother went back there after a good 40 minutes to ask for his name, which we know is Joe know, the place we asked to sit was empty and the restaurant was still nearly empty. Definitely they got busy!
I would like to say that it was sad to encounter these people in view of my brilliant customer service experience at Nandos in NEC Birmingham, in London and in the Royal Town of Leamington Spa. Especially, the one in Leamington Spa had a brilliant customer service when we visited them in the past.
Therefore, I would like to say that I will never visit Nandos Tamworth ever even if they are the only ones in Tamworth in view of my 30 seconds encounter with Joe. I could give them 0 star or even negative star if it was possible. This is not even...
Read moreHad family visiting from Holland and wanted to treat them with Nando’s since they’ve never had it .. it says it’s open until 10pm .. we ordered 9:10pm through Deliveroo .. then we get a call from Deliveroo telling us they don’t have chicken wings .. which was the part of the order .. we said OK , can we get anything else instead and they said they don’t have any chicken left !! We were prepared to have anything else as our guests were hungry and chicken is chicken right .. they told us they don’t have ANY CHICKEN LEFT !!! It’s Nando’s , it’s all about the chicken on the menu .. so we had to cancel because we would be short of food .. now we paid and have to wait days to get the money back for the rest of the order ..and they said that they close at 9:30pm … so annoyed .. people that work there clearly had a quiet night and hoped nobody would order and we’re just happy to cancel .. you can’t tell me that a chicken restaurant had no chicken at all .. we clearly said anything will do .. they just wanted to go home obviously.. happened before at this same place .. definitely not even rating STAFF enough to ever order again from them .. Laziness...
Read moreFood and drink were great, food was hot and a lot of selection. The drop of 1 star is a mixture. The staff kept on asking if we had finished and we could take our plates when it was clear we were still eating. It felt like we had to hold our food in our hand to make sure it wasn't going to get taken. We were asked twice and every member of staff kept looking over our shoulder - literally! My partner said he felt so pressured to hurry up.
There was only 2 of us eating so it wasn't like we were a big family taking up lots of tables and not eating.
It took us a while to order as we were told to order via the app yet the signal and WiFi in there was rubbish. My partner had to go outside to order for us. Bonkers!
The knives and forks were not the cleanest, I had to pick up 3 sets until there were ones without food stuck to them - this seems to be the case at most nandos.
We did visit on a Saturday around 12 so I know they will be wanting tables back but to make us feel rushed even after quite a few tables were free was just very awkward and disappointing.
This was our first time visiting Tamworth and we won't be returning to...
