THE LARA — Restaurant in Tendring

This was the 2nd time that we have eaten here, the food was amazing this time around too but this was disappointingly let down by the poor service. We waited around 25 minutes before anyone approached the table to take our food orders & around another 20 minutes for the starters to arrive. Then when the mains arrived, they were then taken to the tables behind us and placed in front of another customer before being taken back by the waiting staff & then approaching our table before placing them down in front of us. After finishing our food, we waited a further 15 minutes before our waiting staff came to take our plates etc. This was before 10pm & a further 35 minutes later, we were approached by a waitress who told us that we could order desert but would have to take it away because they were not serving to tables anymore because they closed at 10pm & it was now around 22:20. We were all looking forward to a cup of Turkish tea but that went out of the window because we were basically being sped up to leave. This was despite the bar making teas & coffees in cups that was being taken to the 2 large tables of customers in the main part of the restaurant & the large table behind us. During our visit, the restaurant was busy but not enough to say that this was the reason for the slow service. I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Lara Restaurant, and it was an incredible experience. From the moment I entered, the warm and friendly staff made me feel welcome. The restaurant's charming ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Visited the restaurant for the first time, around 17:00, starters were served very fast, but we had been waiting for more than 40' for our main dish (typical lamb shish and chicken shish that other tables have already been eating).

During these 40', more than 7 people popped in and had their take away getting prepared on the spot, which means they prioritise take aways to their sit-in customers?

The kitchen was highly active at the time, and we could see the chefs turning dozens of skewers every couple of minutes, so we didn't get why our main course was ignored.

40' later we were not that hungry anymore and highly disappointed by the waiting time. The only star goes to the service, our waitress was very good and polite.

Maybe it was bad timing or other factors were in play for that huge delay, but we will not be going back, given our experience. I have great experience with every other Turkish restaurant I've been to, so comparison is only natural.
