My husband and I went for dinner on the terrace for his birthday and we had a lot of issues. Seeing other reviews now I thought it would make sense to write a review.

No one greeted us upon coming in, I was really confused where to go and had to ask a few people who could help. We sat on the lovely terrace with beautiful views, but it seems after initial drink order we were completely forgotten. After 20 mins I physically got up to ask for someone to take our order since no one had come up in that long. I understand our reservation was a bit early, but there weren't any other customers in the restaurant at all, and it was not a great start since we were there for dinner!

During and after we ate the delicious food, no one came to check on us or ask if we needed anything.

We sat for another 15 minutes after they took our plates until we finally flagged down the waitress for the dessert menu. Since it was husbands birthday (noted in reservation) we wanted a sweet treat. Because the waitress (or anyone else) took so long to come to the table, we had to flag her down again after some time to just get the bill as we decided we'd be sitting for way too long to receive dessert and would rather just go elsewhere.

I was so saddened by the service during our dinner. We would have most likely ordered more drinks and dessert if someone simply checked on us. As we ate, I saw other customers arrive and we could hear them talking and many mentioned they were waiting a long time for food and others also I saw flagging down the waitress to order more drinks.

It for sure made us question if we would like to bring others here as we live locally, but the food was really so delicious. Even as we left no one said goodbye, it was really awkward as people at the bar just looked at us. I usually don’t write reviews based on experiences as it could just be staff at that time, but I really hope this...

A Culinary Gem in Margate: The Pearly Cow

From the moment I stepped into The Pearly Cow in Margate, Kent, I was captivated by its fantastic Art Deco decor, thoughtfully designed, creating an inviting atmosphere that complements the dining experience.

The service at The Pearly Cow was nothing short of excellent. Catering to our large group, the staff were exceptionally helpful and patient, adding a personal touch to our visit that was greatly appreciated.

Our culinary journey included a diverse range of dishes. We indulged in spiced octopus with crispy chickpeas, Périgord truffle baked Whitstable oyster, a sumptuous Côte de Boeuf accompanied by beef fat chips, glazed Roscoff onion, bone marrow, and a choice of peppercorn and Béarnaise sauce. The Pork tomahawk with Kentish pip cider and wholegrain mustard sauce, and the Robata grilled stone bass with coconut, kafir lime, and local mussels were equally impressive. To finish, the Crème Brûlée with homemade shortbread was a delightful end to our meal.

Each dish was a testament to the quality and creativity of the kitchen. The flavors were balanced, ingredients fresh, and the presentation impeccable. The value for money was evident, as each dish was worth every penny for the quality and experience provided.

Would I return to The Pearly Cow? Without a second thought. Not only would I recommend it to others, but I am also eagerly looking forward to my next visit. The Pearly Cow is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience that shouldn't be missed by anyone visiting Margate.

For those planning to visit, be prepared for an exquisite dining experience that will leave you wanting more. The Pearly Cow is a shining star in Margate's culinary...

Wow, I LOVE this place!! From the moment you step inside you’re greeted by a super friendly team and the interior is absolutely stunning, every little detail of the design does not go a miss and is just really truly beautiful. Most definitely the prettiest restaurant in Kent. The Motown music and ambient lighting really sets the scene for a great date night! We were celebrating our 7th anniversary and it felt so special, Reece who served us was so lovely and the service was perfection. Delicious melon crush cocktails, and the food… to die for!!! We had the focaccia, and the pork belly and rib eye for mains, with their infamous beef fat chips and a few other delicious sides, finishing it off with a wonderful selection of ice cream for dessert - insanely good, one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Every single thing was perfectly cooked with incredible flavours. We’ll be coming back here again and again now! Our new fav spot! And the sea views!! What more could...

I had dinner at that beautifully decorated restaurant. I was lucky to get a lovely table by the window with a view of the sea, and I got to enjoy a stunning sunset - definitely one of the best parts of the evening. The welcome was friendly, and I really enjoyed the oysters and the smoked salmon, which was excellent. However, the dessert was disappointing, a “revisited” chocolate mousse that didn’t resemble a mousse at all in taste or texture. What let the experience down was the lack of attentiveness from the staff. My table wasn’t cleared before dessert, and I had to wait far too long to get the bill. A shame, because it could have been a truly great evening. Also, since the kitchen is open to the dining area, I believe everything needs to be flawless and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I saw some of the kitchen staff spending a lot of time on their phones, which didn’t leave the best impression. In such a visible space, professionalism should be a priority.
