I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I have to say that the fish and chips these guys serve here are by no means less than anything but perfect. The batter, the softness of the chips, the perfect amount of oil and the price, oh the price is delightful.

If you were to create a criteria of what makes the perfect fish and chips, this place would win the award time and time again.

Am I saying these fish and chips by definition are the best in the world? Am I going all Clarkson in this review? YES I am. Why? because these truly are the best fish and chips in the world. When I close my eyes at night and dream of fish and chips this is what I imagine. These chips are perfect in every measure of true British chip shop chips. None of this thin American style french fry malarkey, good old proper slightly crunchy, soft inside, fat wonderful chips.

I now come solely to Margate from London to eat the fish and chips here. Honestly they do not disappoint. It is so hard to come by, proper fish and chips and I don't think I have had any thing halve decent for the past ten years. In-between coming down to Margate I do try other fish shops, but honestly I don't know why I do it to myself as I always end up in tears as nothing can ever compare to this place. I need to stop doing it to myself and only go to Margate for my fix.

This review is still unable to describe how utterly incredible this place is, this place has no pretension, it is what is and that's another true mark of a proper fish and chip shop. They haven't sold out, they don't serve your food on a plate, they don't sell kebabs or Chinese food. All they do is sell the bloody best British fish & chips in the world.

Words cannot describe this place enough. All I can do is urge you to go this place and try it...

I find it really difficult to rate this place because I would consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur. I’ve had brilliant fish and chips all across the United Kingdom, and from places that maybe even certain people may have never heard of and ultimately the chips were fantastic here absolutely loved the chips were tasteful and cooked to perfection. However, the big letdown was the fish and for me, the problem with the fish was, there was just too much batter around it

Chips five stars! Fish Two stars. And that seriously where I would rate it

Surely the fish has to be considered the main star of the show. And if there’s a big problem with the fish, then I can’t give it more than a three star rating overall. Like the fish felt very tiny very small and just covered in batter. I don’t know whether this was deliberate because it was a super busy day when went to Margate on Saturday there was some sort of pride festival and not just pride but also a pro Palestinian March going on so I’m not sure whether this had effected the quality that was being put out to the customers, and whether they deliberately decided on that pacific day to reduce the size of the fish servings and increase the batter to obviously get as much custom and make produce goes far as it could potentially this could’ve happened, but I don’t know if this is the standard. I think it’s no more than three star for me out of five.

But as I say, the chips were absolutely perfection if we’re just rating this on chips, it was a five star so make of that what you will I think

Fish...

Standing in the queue of Pete’s Fish Factory with my fiancé when two men barged in front of us, I thought they were customers attempting to jump the queue so I jokingly said, “We’re in the queue.” Only to be told in a sarcastic manner, “Only if you want to cook the fish yourself!” That’s when I realised they were staff. I felt they were rude because they should have done the civilised thing, and announced themselves, e.g., say, ‘excuse me, I work here’ at the very least, rather than push past us, as neither of them were wearing anything that indicated they worked at Pete’s Fish Factory. Their attitude was uncalled for. Just as I was about to be served the person serving said they would not be serving me as I was rude his co-workers. So I left. My fiancée was served by the same member of staff who turned away my custom, witnessed that member of staff turn to his co-workers and say, “I told him I wasn’t serving him cos he was rude.”, and they all laughed. They thought it was funny. This all occurred in front of a long line of customers. It seems they got a kick out of embarrassing...

I recently had a very upsetting experience at Peter’s Fish Factory in Margate. While eating my fish and chips, I bit into a small rock that had been battered into the food. It caused a painful dental injury, breaking one of my back teeth and requiring professional dental treatment at my own expense. Initially, I spoke to some of the team who were sympathetic and apologised. However, when I managed to speak with the owner, after my text and phone call went unanswered he was extremely rude, refused to listen, and hung up the phone. This left me feeling dismissed and upset. I have photographic evidence of the rock and my broken tooth, which I have shared with the local council’s Environmental Health department for investigation. This kind of issue is a serious health and safety concern — especially if a child had received the same meal. I’m sharing this so others are aware, and I hope the business will take food safety and customer care more seriously moving forward.

Ran out of complimentary 181 sauce, yet tried to charge me 60p per small sachet of ketchup? Made even funnier by this sign stating: 'Marco Pierre White insists "every kitchen cupboard in the world should have at least 6 bottles" of Fortnum's 181 sauce, and who are we to argue?' Forget exporting them, try having 6 bottles in your own fridge! I'm sure it was a long day, that sunny Sunday, but the lad behind the counter just didn't seem to care. Expensive, long wait, sauceless. Do better Peter's Fish Factory!

I take my fish and chips seriously and I will say this is the best quality and value fish and chips I’ve had in a long time - delicious and so reasonably priced! Just enough portion wise that we all finished it but weren’t uncomfortably full. There aren’t many places where you can still get a decent portion of fish and chips for only £6.95! The way it should be enjoyed :)
