Riley's Cafe — Restaurant in Thanet

Riley's was a favourite haunt of my mum's, so much so that when she passed away we knew she would have wanted to have her wake there. Though it was a highly unusual request, Riley's were incredible.

They are an integral part of Ramsgate community and knew mum and her friends well. It was lovely to be able to work with people that genuinely cared for mum, and were sad about her passing.

They offered to close the cafe for the afternoon, for an incredibly reasonable price, and provided lots of varied and delicious food, even making sure there were many options for those with dietary requirements. They met all our needs, and even provided helpful suggestions for what we might like to have on the day. They set up a space for flowers, pictures and a remembrance book, and even set up their own touching tribute to mum. They created the perfect atmosphere for friends and family to be together and remember mum. From the music to the care of the staff, no one could have done a better job.

I recently visited this charming café in Ramsgate and had an experience that was too good not to share. From the moment I walked in, the warmth of the staff's welcome made a brilliant first impression. They were not just nice, but truly exceptional in their service – quick, attentive, and with smiles that made the whole place shine.

Now let's talk about the food. I had a cheese and tomato toastie that was nothing short of beautiful. It was the kind of comfort food that you'd come back for, with every bite oozing with flavor and that perfect cheese pull that we all secretly (or not so secretly) love.

But the star of the show was, without a doubt, the smoothie. It was incredibly thick, rich, and packed with flavor – easily one of the best smoothies I've ever had. It was the kind of drink that leaves you scraping the sides of the glass because you don't want to miss a single drop.

On holiday in the area and walked from Broadstairs to Ramsgate. Stopped at Rileys for a cup of tea and just couldn't resist a slice of cake! We were in luck as the proprietor, (who was really friendly ) had been experimenting with new ideas for "Christmassy" tastes and, that morning, had baked a spiced orange and cranberry cake.
