Last weekend, we decided to try something new for brunch and headed to Bill’s at the Trafford Centre. It’s not a place we’d normally go to, but the menu looked tempting, so we thought we’d give it a shot. Little did we know, we were about to have one of the most memorable brunches this year.
We both kicked things off with cappuccinos, and they were spot on—creamy, rich, and perfectly foamy. It was the perfect start to the meal, warming us up for what was to come.
When the food arrived, it was clear we’d made the right choice. I had the Avocado on Sourdough with Eggs, and it was everything I hoped for. The smashed avocado was creamy and perfectly seasoned, with a bright squeeze of lime and fresh coriander. The poached eggs were beautifully runny, and the spicy cherry tomatoes added just the right amount of heat to balance it all. It was simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious.
My wife went for the Garden Plate, and let me tell you, that dish was a showstopper. It had two poached eggs, grilled halloumi, roasted plum tomatoes, charred red peppers, smashed avocado, mushrooms, crispy fried potatoes, baked beans, and toast, all topped with hollandaise sauce and a scattering of pea shoots. It was like a rainbow of flavours and textures on a plate. Every bite brought something new, and she couldn’t stop raving about how good it was.
The atmosphere at Bill’s was relaxed and welcoming, with a casual yet polished vibe. It felt like the kind of place where you could sit back and enjoy without feeling rushed. It had a lively energy but never felt chaotic or overwhelming.
Then came the unexpected twist. Just as we were finishing up, we noticed a bit of a commotion. And that’s when we saw them, Stormtroopers, marching past the restaurant! At first, we thought it might be a prank, but then Darth Vader himself strolled by, followed by Chewbacca, Earth Valerian, the Mandalorian with Grogu, and even R2-D2 whirring and beeping around the tables. It was absolutely surreal, people were laughing, kids were thrilled, and everyone was snapping photos, we even git some selfies with them. It felt like we’d been transported into a scene from Star Wars right in the middle of brunch.
The food alone was enough to make us want to return, but the whole experience turned a simple meal into a brilliant memory. We’ll definitely be back at Bill’s—and who knows, maybe next time...
Read moreAfter a little shopping, we decided to have a light brunch/ snack, and as we had never eaten at Bill's Restaurant, we thought we would try it. We were shown to our table and ordered our drinks. While looking at the menu, a waitress approached and asked us if we had ordered our drinks. We said we had, and she left us to continue looking at the menu. Within a minute or so, another waitress approached us and asked us if we had ordered any drinks. After our response, it was back to try and look at the menu. The original person who showed us to our table had returned asking if we were ready to order. We weren't and asked for a little more time. Our order was from the smaller plates and sharing starters: Bill's Spiced Tortillas (very good, not really spicey), Roast Squash Hummus Flatbread (very good), Chorizo & Chilli Honey with flatbread (delicious). As the Trafford Centre was busy, we decided to stay where we were and ordered doughnuts & cappuccino for myself and the cream tea for my partner. A different waiter brought us our drinks fairly quickly. We thought the doughnuts and scones must be coming and started drinking our drinks slowly. Five or probably more minutes passed, and nothing else arrived. A waitress delivered food to another table, so I asked her what had happened to the desserts. She apologised and said it was probably down to it, taking 8 minutes to cook the doughnuts. She apologised again and offered us free drinks when the doughnuts and scones were ready. A couple of minutes later, we were approached by a waitress who asked if everything was OK. Another apology given, and she said she would chase them up and not charge us for the extra drinks. When the doughnuts and scones did arrive, they were both very good. As was the tea and coffee. When the bill came, there was an optional service charge already added to the bill. You have to tell them if you don't want to pay it (see the attached photograph). As you can also see from the attached bill, you can receive a 20% discount with the Blue Light Card once you show the QR code for Bill's Restaurant. In summary, the food was very good. The service was friendly and helpful, although they dropped the ball with the desserts. However, we did feel that the apologies...
Read moreWe tried this place on a whim on our way back from our holiday in Wales. We visited on a Monday evening, mid August with our two kids age 4 and 6. We were so pleasantly surprised by how good this restaurant was, we had an absolutely brilliant meal. The staff were lovely and friendly and really attentive. The lighting was nice and dim, the tables not too close together and no loud music, which is important as my son is autistic. He was calm and seemed comfortable throughout the meal. They provided crayons and a double sided menu with colouring and activities for the kids which kept them occupied until the food arrived The menu had plenty of options for me as a vegetarian. I picked the halloumi shawarmi in the end. My husband had the cheese burger and both kids had the buttermilk chicken off the children's menu. They were running a really good deal where if you bought just one meal off the set menu you got two kids meals free. The kids meal included a main, a drink and a dessert so this was great value. The food came amazingly quickly and looked really appetising. Both me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed ours. It was fresh, beautifully cooked and had loads of flavour. We both agreed that it was the best meal out we'd had in a long time. My only criticism was that the bread crumb on the kids buttermilk chicken was a little bit too hard and crunchy for them, but my husband said that the chicken was really delicious. The kids baked beans came in a little pan, which they loved as they enjoyed pretending to be chefs cooking their own meals. I had the chocolate Tart for pudding and it was absolutely out of this world. The boys had the apple crumble sundae which was also lovely. At the end of the meal one of members of staff asked me and my husband if they could give the kids a little tub of candy floss each. This was such a nice touch and the kids were made up because they've never tried candy floss before. The meal came to £50 and included a bottle of larger and a coffee, three desserts, four mains and a starter. We both thought this was brilliant value considering how delicious the food was and how great the service was too. This was the perfect end to our holiday, we will definitely...
