Organised a birthday meal with a group of 15 friends, apart from one other couple in the restaurant we were the only group. We were seated upstairs which was fine, however there seemed to be some rather large flies buzzing around our heads, which wasn’t exactly the best start, especially considering it is the middle of winter and we were eating food.
The waiter politely sat us all down and recommended we went for the set menu, which is reasonably priced at £20.00 per head. The Starters came out and were very good and plentiful, however when the mains came out, it seemed like there wasn’t enough food for the 15 of us, and some of the group had to go without certain dishes. Some of the meat dishes were also verging on being cold.
The restaurant staff all seemed very polite and friendly, however given that there was no one else in the restaurant, we felt as though we weren’t receiving much attention, and on a number of occasions needed to seek out the waiter to get us more drinks.
Overall the evening was pleasant, but I felt as though the food and service was a bit of a let-down, unfortunately friendliness only goes so far in...
Read moreI never thought to write a review, but I wanted to now! It's admittedly been a few years, but my best friend and I were visiting the UK from the US in 2017 and stayed outside of Abingdon in an Air BnB.
We happened upon Mezzeh House while we were driving through town one night and decided to make that where we went to dinner that night. It was absolutely AMAZING. We still talk about it to this day. The food was amazing, but it was the staff that really made us love the place. They were so kind, and made us feel like we were the only customers there they were so attentive. They asked us about our lives in Southern California, and told us about what it was like to live in the UK.
Sure, London and Stonehenge were super cool to finally see, but it's the experiences we had (because we went back a few times before we left) at this restaurant that we still look back on as one of...
Read moreWe ordered various dishes which were all very tasty, meze, lamb, soup etc and a steak. Well I wouldn't recommend ordering a steak from a restaurant that doesn't specialise in steaks but my young daughter went ahead anyway. The steak tasted like you were chewing a piece of carpet. Even she couldn't eat it. We did tell the owner who then gave us little cakes at the end of our meal to compensate. I would have preferred she remove the steak from the bill. Top tip don't order the steak. In addition it was all quite pricey. Not sure whether we'd go back. In addition to your reply below...ok it's was a tough...
