I have ashtrays wanted to try this place as I pad through brecon quiet often and always stop somewhere for a coffee, we decided to give coffee box a go. We walked in and logged around trying to figure out if it was take or counter service, there were 3 staff members behind the counter doing absolutely nothing and not one of them acknowledged us and we looked lost not knowing what to do. Finally figured out that you find a table then go back to order from the counter, pay, and they bring your items to the table. The whole system to me seems ridiculous seeing how many staff they had stood around doing absolutely naff all. The place seems to have a very bland feeling decore. The coffee and carrot cake were perfectly fine and not too bad value for money. As we sat at our table there were just endless amounts of staff just stood around doing nothing and not one of them seemed to have any sort of personality or enthusiasm for their job. Just a really disappointing experience and we wouldn't go back because of the lack of professionalism from the staff (which may not be their fault if the manager isn't allowing or encouring them to show any sort of...

Ahhh The Coffee Box. We arrived towards the end of a long journey needing a coffee and sit down just under 2 weeks ago. We'd driven around the country for a while on the way back from a frustrating day of work then walked around the town and could we find a cafe?!!! Or one that was open?? No! Then suddenly there it was and we'd almost missed it! Walk in, it has a lovely feel to it and the two gentlemen who were running it made us feel like we'd walked into their sitting room. Lovely, lovely coffee and gluten free lemon polenta to die for. The other cakes were mouth watering. Even helped us find the nearest local public loo too! No end to the things we chatted over with the young chap who served us along with a lovely lady sitting having a coffee too. I was sorry to leave in fact. Life isn't easy for all of us but with a welcome like that, great coffee and cake.....The Coffee Box gets my vote. Don't just take my word. Go in, meet the staff and you'll see. Tell...

Best coffee/cake experience I've had in at least a year! I had a white cocoa mocha which was extremely good, a lovely creamy taste with a perfect balance between coffee and chocolate, especially good considering it was made with skimmed milk. My brother and I shared two tray bake cakes - the yoghurt & blackberry flapjack was INSANELY good and the dark choc millionaire shortbread delicious too. A fair number of treat options are pretty unique, and SUCH a lovely change from the dull, homogeneous experience in so many other coffee shops. I'm so surprised the review rating is only 4.4, prices for coffee and tray bakes are slightly more than average (though huge slices of cake seem good value), BUT SO worth it if you really want a PROPER treat rather than just a coffee to...

We were looking for a lovely independent coffee shop after a walk around Brecon town centre, and here we found one. Delicious homemade cakes and a large range of hot drinks. I ordered the luxury hot chocolate with chocolate brownie, my husband ordered a hot chocolate with chocolate caramel shortbread, my father ordered a basic coffee with chocolate caramel shortbread and my mother ordered a basic coffee with yoghurt and fruit flapjack. All were extremely delicious and quick to arrive. The barista was welcoming and very pleasant.
