Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Wales

The staff here are extremely rude and impolite, the atmosphere is great but one particular staff attitude has been a disaster. I am Chinese and there is a staff that seemed extremely racist, consistently stare at me and my partner when we were there. When it is at 4, the staff told us to leave and we packed. Outside was raining so when we were at the entrance me and my partner stopped for 10 seconds just to open our umbrellas but the staff consistently told us to leave the cafe immediately. I told the staff that it was raining outside and we were just opening the umbrella, the staff replied with ‘I don’t care about Ching Chongs’. I was shocked, too stunned to speak and left the cafe. Great service, lovely food and attentive staff, however their COVID protocol is over the top and some of the staff (I think his name was Tom) came across condescending.

This store need to make it clear to customers that if they are staying in, they need to fill out a track and trace form before they join the queue, as I had to go to the back of the queue after I stated that I wanted to stay in. Also Tom asked me for ID to verify who I was on the track and trace form (I mean seriously?!?!?) which is pompous and rude, and again highlights the asinine policing in the store.

After years of being a card carrying Costa customer. I took the plunge and bought myself a Costa Reusable cup. I figure that it was time that I did my part given to volume of coffee that I drink, to protect the environment.

Regardless of where I buy my coffee from be it a motorway services, a franchises or an original , a shop in the city center or a small town.

I have always found the service to be exceptional, as well as quality of the product on offer.
