We were big fans of this place when it first opened, the food was great the services was great by month after month everything is going downhill except for the prices.
About a couple of months ago we went there only to have our last order not sent after waiting about 40 mins, to which we left and I can give the benefit of the doubt that they may have forgotten or just busy.
After going back there today we wanted to sit upstairs as the only tables downstairs were by the door and the weather is cold plus the tables were not enough for us. We were told the wait is 20 mins to be seated up stairs because it is busy so we agreed after having the option to order and once there are free seats we can go up. 2 mins later a massive group leaves the upstairs and we were told we can go up after 5 mins to give them time to clean. The next thing we have a new staff member telling us that the upstairs will be closed in about 30mins and this was at about 9:55 and she would ‘prefer’ us to be seated downstairs. She was insisting that we sit downstairs and clearly the tables aren’t enough, my father suffers from asthma were the fumes of the food makes him cough and and the smell of cigarettes is really unpleasant as people sit so close to the doors plus the weather being cold does not help with my elderly parents. We told her we would like to sit upstairs, but she was not having no for an answer to which she eventually accepted and let us upstairs.
We go up and the whole of the upstairs is empty only for 1 small table with a couple sat there baring in mind we were told it is busy and there is no space for us.
We literally gave our order within 5 mins of being seated and it was a very small order. The 2 scoops of ice cream came within mins, the earl grey tea came close after that and then waiting for about 30 mins there was no sign of the sundae to which we decide to leave. After everyone had finished their food. The min we go downstairs it was full with everyone sat there with their order and the item I ordered the Ferraro sundae I believe was given to someone else. This only makes me believe that this was intentionally done because we wanted to sit upstairs as she did not serve us the tea or even help with anything else.
I think this maybe the last time we go there as their staff is getting worse along with the service. All their friendly staff have left and now these new staff members are purely rude and want to seat you where they want and give the order when or if they want.
Adding to the above about 80% of the time we are told it is busy and we can’t be seated only to go up and find over half of the place is empty.
Terrible experience to...
Read moreBrought my two sisters here as treat and we had a really bad time. We did not receive our food for over 2 hours. I informed them of my peanut allergy as soon as I arrived and the lady stated she would be taking my order personally which she didnt. When my dessert finally arrived there was sprinkled nuts on it.. this was not listed on the dessert on the menu that there would be sprinkled nuts. They did resolve this by making me a new dessert right away.. which was really nice it was a cookie dough. but this was after the two hours I already had to wait. The two waffles my sisters ordered were nice but really overcooked so too crispy. The atmosphere is nice and place is beautiful, but the service not good at all, stuff were very rude and would speak in their own language, service was very slow, no service with a smile at all and rolled there eyes a few times. Ended up speaking with the manager on the phone who said he would be investigating an issue there and would get back in contact with me and he never did, he was also slightly rude whilst I spoke with him on the phone, talking about overheads calling me ‘Presumptuous’ for ASKING for a Gesture of good will (I was not demanding so he was using the incorrect word).. after waiting for 2 hours and the staff messing up my order. So I have had to write a review instead as it clearly shows they do not care about customer service, and I had to get my refund back from Uber Eats! Will definetly not be returning, and will stick to the one in Birmingham where they dont seem to have any problems sticking to requests or there customer service. (Had to order off Ubereats for collection as we was in the store and there card machine was not working, but the worker advised we could make the order on uber eats for collection and she would plate it as normal and we could eat there, straight after ordering we went down to them to let them know which order was ours and they still had boxed it all up to takeaway), the long wait in the dessert shop was due to them not allowing us to cancel our order with a refund after they couldnt honour some...
Read moreDisappointing. 6 of us visited for my sisters birthday. It was freezing inside, to the extent that people were wearing coats! We took ours off but had to put them back on. Commented on the temp and waitress said she'd turn air conditioning off (why was it on? It was a cold Jan day - barely above freezing outside!.). Anyway she didn't and the vent above us continued to blow freezing air. I was shivering so much at one point that I couldn't drink as my hands were shaking. Requested water when we arrived as my sister was really thirsty. Requested it again when waitress arrived to take order (we weren't ready but asked for the water), asked again when she took the order (both times as the tablet crashed and she had to do it twice) and again when she brought the serviettes and cutlery. Finally got it just before our order was delivered. When she took the orders (for the second time) she waited until the end to tell us 1 dish wasn't available (why not tell us as we ordered it?!). Desserts were OK, I expected the brownies to be warm but they were cold (and looked like the snack size ones you can buy in the supermarket) and the bowl had clearly been frozen with the sauce on it as it was stuck to it like cement. Milkshakes were delicious. The Lotus waffle dessert arrived with a smidgen of sauce, half had no sauce at all so my sister requested more sauce - told that would be £1.20. What?! My sister spoke to the chef who said he does what manager tells him, so we sent it back. A dry waffle with a tiny amount of sauce is not a "heavenly dessert", so she ordered a cookie dough instead (delicious). Looking at pics online, there is always more sauce! We could have bought a bottle of sauce in pound land over the road for less! We spent over £60 if we'd been asking for "extra" I'd understand it, but only half the waffle had anything on it. So disappointing. So overall a birthday treat that was not...
