An Exceptional Dining Experience at Rasoi Waterfront!
My recent visit to Rasoi in Swansea's lovely SA1 waterfront area was truly memorable. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, exuding a welcoming atmosphere, and is conveniently located just a short walk from the car park.
We started our meal with a fantastic selection of small plates: onion bhajis, lamb bao and crispy paneer bites. These were served with some truly delightful sauces and made for stunning appetizers, perfectly setting the tone for the evening. We also really appreciated the complimentary poppadoms and their accompanying dips.
For our mains, I opted for the mixed grill and my partner enjoyed a lamb korma. Every dish was cooked to perfection with generous portions and incredibly tasty flavors. The chicken in my mixed grill was a particular highlight – succulent and cooked absolutely perfectly. A big shout-out to the team for being so accommodating with the lamb korma - it wasn't on the menu but they were more than happy to make it for us, which was a lovely touch. The food arrived promptly with no delays whatsoever.
What truly elevated our evening, though, was our delightful waiter, Razvan. He made our experience feel incredibly special. His friendly manner and determination to ensure we were completely satisfied were above and beyond anything I've experienced previously. It didn’t seem like a job to him, more like a genuine passion. He was polite and fun, finding the perfect balance between being attentive and not overbearing. He even recommended the mixed grill to me and I'm so pleased he did, as it was a truly fantastic dish!
While the food was delicious and certainly top quality, do note that on a Friday evening, it falls outside any 'offer' timescale, so it is a little pricier. However, the quality of the food and service makes it absolutely worth it. My only minor suggestions for improvement would be a little extra fresh coriander on the mixed grill to truly perfect it for my taste and a fresh flannel at the end of the meal would have been a nice touch. Also, our particular table, being near the front door, was drafty, and I felt cold, but I imagine this wouldn't be an issue for other tables in the restaurant.
Overall, Rasoi Waterfront delivered an exceptional dining experience with delicious, expertly prepared food and truly outstanding service, especially from Razvan. We can't...
Read moreMy friends and I dined here this week and from the moment we entered till we left, service was outstanding. The ambiance, decor and menu does not disappoint and you’re well looked after. Three of us were given a table with booth style upright seats in the centre of the restaurant.
The menu is quite extensive and the themed Indian fusion has traditional authentic dishes and a few that were new to me. The Desi lamb for example, I’d never heard of. Lamb slow cooked in homemade garam masala sauce. This is had to try along with mushroom rice. My starter was the delicious samosa chat. Crunchy Punjabi samosa served with channa masala topped with chutneys, bujia and pomegranate.
We had the mandatory poppadoms with chutney, mint sauce, spiced tomato and mango dips. My friends had the onion bhaji and tikka jingha, (king prawns, marinated coated with a mix of black and white sesame seeds) Mains were chicken pathia ( tangy and spicy tomato sauce) and murgh malai methi (chicken cooked with fenugreek and mixed spices, a creamy and flavourful dish) both opted for pilau rice. All meals were tasty, delicious and cooked to perfection.
The portions were plentiful and served in adequate time. What really impressed me besides everything else was the shared bread selection. This was an assortment of warm naan, roti and garlic butter wrapped naans. Melt in your mouth delicious tasting and we cleared the plate!
Drinks were non alcoholic lagers and soft drinks as we all unfortunately were driving. A shame as the cocktail menu looked great. Our servers were courteous, attentive, well presented and very professional. Deserts were raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake and the Magnum brownie. All excellent, we tipped generously to show...
Read moreReally enjoyed the lollipop chicken, and the samosa chaat was incredible, almost ordered another one straight away. Unfortunately there was clearly an issue with our order as only my starter arrived, so had to eventually ask what was going on after waiting a while and the waiter apologised, so we got our other starters 5-10 mins after. Unfortunately, it wasn't just starters there was an issue with, our mains clearly hadn't been ordered properly either, as we must have sat for 45-60 mins after finishing our starters waiting for mains that never arrived before we had to complain again. Tables around us who arrived much later than we did had received their food in the interim. When the food arrived, the Lamb biryani wasn't terribly flavorful, definitely wouldn't order biryani again, and while the makhani sauce was amazing, it was only an incredibly miserable thin smear in the little tin it arrived in, amounting to two tablespoonfuls. The butter chicken was pleasant, but felt the flavour could have been punchier. Panchratna was ok, but again, flavour could be more robust. The special chips were nice, but I'd probably prefer them without the sauce next time.
I know it doesn't sound like it, but I did really like the food overall, the highs outweighed the lows, and I'm looking forward to returning again, the food is pleasantly different from the majority of Indian restaurants you find in Swansea. Unfortunately there were some serious problems in service, surely if a customer tells you starters didn't arrive, you'd make sure there isn't a problem with the mains too. I don't know how we ended up with such major problems in both...
