Lotus — Restaurant in Wales

While the food was good, the staff were very unwelcoming. I went there with my family at 1420. We were aware the restaurant closes at 1500, and were informed that we only had 10 mins to order - no problem, as we knew what we wanted to order. Half way through our meal the staff started making their lunch and ate at the opposite table - again not a problem. However, we noticed they were not interested in serving us while preparing their lunch (we only wanted chopsticks, and had to go to their kitchen entrance to alert them), and when we asked for the bill and interrupted their meal, they were annoyed and responded rudely. Their attitude really overshadowed a decent meal, and I think the staff there should remember they're meant to provide both food AND hospitality. My advice to them is to be simple - if you'd prefer to have lunch instead of serving customers then say so. Set right on the river front in the middle of Swansea the Ice House provides an excellent setting for the Lotus House Thai restaurant. There is a good selection of Thai food, which was served quickly. The starter mixed selection for two people was excellent, giving a good variety from the start menu to try. Each of the four of us had different main courses which demonstrated the wide variety of excellent flavours, sauces and foods currently cooked in this restaurant. For a Wednesday night the restaurant was busy, but the service was friendly and efficient. The patron herself came to our table to make sure we were happy.
