As local residents we were excited to visit Positano on Valentines evening, finally an Italian Restaurant on SA1! The welcome was good, starter of bread and olives perfectly fine, main course...the 'centrepiece' £40 for seafood spaghetti for 2...what a disappointment! 2 prawns each..we fought over the 5th prawn, squid and some tiny mussels. Tasty enough but certainly not a 'centrepiece' meal worth £40. 3 people asked us if we enjoyed our meal and we politely told them it was lacking in shellfish. This was their opportunity to pull it back and ensure we didn't leave disappointed. Unfortunately this was not the case. We were not asked if we would like the dessert menu or coffee (surely a first) and eventually we asked for the bill and left. Hopefully our comments to staff will be taken on board and other customers will not leave as disappointed as we were. Please get your act together Positano and dont allow people to leave your restaurant feeling as we did. You are a new business and rely on recomendations from customers. We will not be recommending you but may visit in the future, as we are local, just to see if you have improved. We are hoping you will. Please also take on board my comments on the toilets which had no hand dryers which worked or hand...
Read morewent Here for Valentine’s with my husband . Table booked for 8.15 shown to our table straight away . Tables very close together as if they had crammed more tables in . After 15 mins a waitress asked if we wanted a drink . Told my husband to order food at the same time as it was so busy. Still waiting at 9.25 for drinks despite reminding several waiters that we still hadn’t had our wine . Meanwhile my starter came ( no drinks still & no starter for my husband ) my husband told me to start as it was going cold .. after about 10 mins a waitress came & said it was someone else’s & took it !!!! Then after asking again by the bar for wine it came ! Followed by our starters . Waitress put them on table only to whip them away again stating that they too were for another customer.when ours finally came , Hubby ordered selection of bread but got 4 chunks of the same bread & 2 bread sticks !!! We were asked at least 4 times for our food order & eventually were eating around 10.20. It was like something out of faulty towers . People on the other table didn’t even eat in the end & cancelled their order . We had a free glass of wine each & bill came to over £60 . Absolutely terrible service & wish we had stayed in. Ruined what should have been a...
Read moreWhat a horrid experience. We were a table of seven, including 2 children at what was a very quiet time. There could not have been more than 9-13 people in Positanos last night. The food took painfully long to be served. The starters were terrible!
My children ordered the calamari and it was undercooked. There seemed to have been no batter used and it was simply dipped in oil. It was chewy and looked dreadfully unapetizing.
We also order the artisan bread and the Bruscuito. The Bruscuito portion for one person was piled on to a single piece of bread. The artisan bread was very dry and again very disappointing.
We had a 19:30 reservation and the mains were not served until 21:00. The mains were served cold and we had to return 2 of the them as they were not as described on the menu. 2 of the dishes were unseasoned pasta with a carbonara sauce without any panchatta.
There was no offer of customer satisfaction. When asked if anything could be done about the bill, maybe provide an overall discount for the inconvenience caused, and the fact that 2 of the 7 guests had to reutn their meals after waiting about 2 hours, we were told no.
An overall awful experience and we will never go...
