I had been looking forward to visiting The Goat, but then sadly left disappointed by quite a few things.
Firstly, when we arrived we had difficulty getting into the restaurant with our pram. The access wasn’t brilliant from the front. We were made aware of the ramp at the back of the building, which we did use in the end.. a sign about this or better access at the front would have been helpful. We were willing to lift the pram up the steps as it was raining heavily, but due to the tables right by the entrance, we couldn’t fit through.
We were then seated at a table that was not big enough for our group, despite booking beforehand.
When taking our order, the waitress stood at the end of the table & as a large group of 8, this just made it quite difficult. We had to shout down the table to order our drinks & food.
My partner ordered a sparkling drink that came in a bottle. When he opened it, it went everywhere & whilst we understand this can happen; the waitress who was taking a photograph for us at the time, did not offer to help clean the table which was then sticky throughout our meal.
He also ordered your Korean chicken burger, which came & seemed to just be a normal chicken burger. It was also supposed to come with Asian slaw, but this seemed to be the same as what I had with my beef burger.
When our food came, we were asked if we wanted any sauces. We ordered mayonnaise & ketchup, which took a while to come & then came in two tiny pots, between the 8 of us. I ordered extra, but I felt like a hindrance to the waitress due to her attitude. At the end of our meal, we weren’t even offered dessert menus.
We also had to get up to pay, the card machine was not brought to the table.
The overall attitude & manner of the waitresses was quite poor & whilst they weren’t necessarily rude, we just felt like we were constantly bothering them for their services.
These are all little issues, however collectively they really affected our experience. For a new restaurant with such beautiful decor & advertising, we were just left quite disappointed & it is a shame. Messaged the restaurant to raise these points, but didn’t receive a reply. Hopefully they can be taken on board to improve the dining...
Read moreWe dined at The Goat for a birthday meal in September, and had been looking forward to trying this place since it opened in the summer. Whilst the food was good, the service was really poor and considering it was a weekday night and the restaurant less than half full, we were surprised that the waiters were often nowhere to be seen. We ordered food and drinks at the same time... our drinks arrived after we'd finished our starters. Our mains were served, and the food was enjoyable, but at no point did anyone check in with us or see if we needed anything else. About halfway through dinner we wanted to order more drinks but could not find anyone to take our order... after another 15 mins we managed to get someone's attention and ordered another cocktail. This finally arrived as we were finishing our mains. Afterwards, our table was partially cleared, but we were not asked if we would like to order more drinks, or dessert, of coffees. Such a shame as this would almost certainly have resulted in us spending more money. We waited for a while again to find someone to request our bill from... more than 10 minutes passed and a nearby table asked for our bill and immediately received it. We then had to remind the waiter we were waiting for our bill. We were left with the distinct impression that the team were not interested in us as customers, and we felt incredible invisible all evening. This was reinforced by the waiter taking time to explain the 2-for-1 drinks offer when they were seated, just 10 minutes after we'd arrived... but this offer had not been mentioned to us at all. I reached out to the restaurant via instagram to discuss the issues we experience, was directed to email the manager, but have heard nothing since. Had the restaurant bothered to respond to our feedback, I would not have taken the step of adding a public review. Overall, we felt disappointed in our visit: such a nice spot in Llandudno with reasonably good food but so badly let down by the service...
Read moreLate review as I ate here late August. It was one of a few visits I've made to this restaurant. I have always recommended it to friends and business associates but not again.
When we sat down we weren't told by the young lady who served us that quite a few items were missing off the menu. This caused a nuisance and she had to come back and take our order three times. It would have been much better if she'd simply told us up front.
We ordered as one of our starters some foccacia bread and dips. We were surprised to receive 4 slices of sourdough bread. Yet another thing she forgot to tell us wasn't on the menu. Also the kitchen should not have sent it!
Our mains were not bad but knowhere near the standard I've had previously here.
Dessert was supposed to be cheesecake (which I've had several times before). When it arrived it was some sort of mousse on a plate in a pile. No base, strawberries or anything.Obviously they didn't have any of this either but yet again the kitchen had decided to rip us off. I asked the server what it was and she said "I don't know". I asked was it cheesecake and she said "no". Not her fault she didn't put it on a plate. I sent it back and wes really getting annoyed at the total disrespect shown by a kitchen to its diners.
A lady came over and said the chef had burnt the cheesecake but didn't know why had served the mousse.
I was with some good friends and we paid a fairly hefty and left.
Clearly there needs to be better training for the young staff and whoever was in the kitchen needs to be more respectful.
Great shame because it showed good promise as...
