This place is a great Llandudno local. Soon as you walk in your greeted by the warm friendly atmosphere of north Wales in this pub. The staff are very lovely. The food from this place is top notch stuff too. I recommend the rump steak or the bacon double cheeseburger with waffle fries. They are two of the best meals going on the menu and always me and my wife's favourite go to food.
Drinks are awesome, great choice of drinks and a good selection of cocktails on the menu. Karaoke is a booming atmosphere when it kicks off at 9pm. Absolutely love just sitting back and watching locals have a crack at singing, some actual talent too with some singers, after all it is Wales.
The only thing I'd say about this pub is using the app. Sometimes when you place an order you can be waiting over 20-30 mins for any drinks or food because the orders got stuck in a queue or just not received thier end properly so for that issue alone it gets 3 stars so everytime you want food or drink I'd recommend just hitting up at the bar and ordering it to your table yourself to avoid delays.
Set aside the app problems, the pub in general is a wonderful safe place to enjoy yourself for the night and the staff will go above and beyond to ensure you have a lovely time. Always attentive staff.
If you like local pubs, good 80s/90s music on karaoke and good loud bubbly atmosphere then The Carlton is a top choice to enjoy your Friday and Saturday Nights.
I recommend booking a table because it can get rammed on Saturday Nights very easily as you get a lot of Hen lady's and Stag Guys waltzing in so orders at the bar can get busy and seating can get filled up very fast before 9pm so bare that in mind when coming here.
Advice - If you book a table for the night, make it 7.30pm because that way after 8pm they don't book tables and your table stays your table all night long so your guaranteed a seat all night without having to give it up as after 9pm it's a sit anywhere period until close so definitely pre...
Read more👍 What’s good The Carlton is located in the heart of Llandudno, making it very convenient for a night out or casual drink when you’re in town.
It offers a broad mix of services: real ale, cocktails, food, live entertainment (bingo, karaoke) and big-screens for sport.
The menu seems to cater to a range of tastes (pub classics, drinks specials) and is geared for good value.
The atmosphere is described as lively and sociable — ideal for a casual get-together or a fun evening out.
👀 Things to be aware of
Because it aims for lively entertainment and a wide appeal, it might get busy or noisy — so if you prefer a quiet drink or snug corner, it may not tick that box.
As with many central pubs, parking or access may be less straightforward, especially during peak times (though I don’t have specific complaints listed).
Some may prefer more premium or craft-beer focused pubs if that’s your taste; Carlton seems more broad/friendly than ultra-specialist.
🎯 My verdict
If you’re looking for a friendly, central spot in Llandudno with good value drinks, decent pub food, and a lively atmosphere (with sports or live entertainment), the Carlton is a solid pick. If instead you’re after something quieter, more boutique or craft-beer oriented, you might explore smaller venues.
✅ Who it’s good for
Groups of friends looking for a fun evening.
Visitors staying centrally who want a “go-to” local.
People wanting somewhere that shows sports or has entertainment.
🚫 Who it might not be ideal for
Those looking for a peaceful, quiet pub experience.
Cask ale aficionados who want an extensive local-brew selection (not sure that is the Carlton’s speciality).
People travelling with a very young child wanting a café-style atmosphere (though it does serve food, it’s more of a...
Read moreVery, very disappointed & quite frankly shocked with this place! Was on holiday for the half-term week with family & decided to go in here for drinks but upon entering with one person at the bar being served & two people behind the bar, one of the staff seemed more happy to talk to their colleague & wander back & forth than offer service to myself. Was eventually served but upon ordering drinks for the family, the member of staff behind the bar asked if the drinks were for children to which I replied "Yes, the Diet Coke is for my 17yr old daughter". I was then told that anybody under the age of 18yrs old is not allowed in after 6pm & that we must leave the premises immediately (yes the words 'immediately' were used)!! I literally stood there shocked at the sheer rudeness of the staff. Not even an "unfortunately we are not allowed anybody under 18 past 6pm i'm afraid" but a blunt reply of "You must leave immediately". Considering we walked in just after 7pm & the bar staff watched as we as a family entered, neither said anything to us as we walked past the bar. There is no sign within the pub stating no U18's allowed after 6pm and having looked on their website, it doesn't state this either. I would have understood had we entered after 9 or 10pm & the place was rammed but it was half empty but the member of staff made sure the other people present heard when we were asked to leave. The attitude & rudeness of the staff left me completely stunned & shocked. This place will undoubtedly lose a huge amount of custom if this is the attitude its staff take. I would very highly recommend avoiding this place if this is how they...
