It's okay. I felt like there were more dogs than people on the pier. Just messing. But there were a LOTTT of dogs and I went on a weekday but there were still a lot of people. I did feel uncomfortable because people kept staring like I was a monkey in a zoo (yayy niqabi gang!) Instructions on rides aren't clear but the ferris wheel people let us go around 4 times and each time we were at the bottom we kept giving side eye in case it was our turn to get off so thank you to the Ferris wheel people for letting us stay on.
In terms of the whole experience - the beach, 4/5 is a pebble beach, very bumpy to walk on (bring appropriate footwear!) but the last fifth is a sandy beach where most people were gathered. Mind you I witnessed people peeing on the sand in front of everyone and kids walking around stark naked, I didn't know where to look and just felt dirty because of the pee and the smell so didn't take my socks or shoes off. The water on the shore is very brown and dirty not like the clear one in Porthcawl, Wales. There were boat rides available and a Punch and Judy show (where Punch thwacks the baby against the wall multiple times and yeets him down the stairs if you're into that sort of stuff). Also saw a man doing a petition to get sand back on the beach.
Buttt, if you do go or happen to find yourself in a last minute trip you can't get out of, be sure to go up the trail behind the pier - there's a bit of hiking but it takes you to this beautiful and well maintained scenery at the top where there's very less people but loads of flowers, trees, a little stream and it's so relaxing. And if you're feeling a bit daring there are cliffs and caves you can climb past (but I wouldn't recommend this as it's just jagged rocks and the sea below and preservation of life comes first).
If you want to go to a nice beach in Wales go to Porthcawl instead - has to be the best one there hands down. This is a shameless review but Porthcawl has everything a beach should have, clean water to dip your toes in, SAND!! - lots of it, fair rides, donkey...
Read moreLocated at North Parade in Llandudno, the pier offers an iconic seaside experience that combines natural beauty, classic charm, and a touch of nostalgia. We visited Llandudno Pier on January 1st, a particularly windy day, and it turned out to be a memorable way to start the year.
Stretching gracefully into the sea, the pier provides stunning views of the coastline and surrounding hills. Despite the strong winds, the atmosphere was invigorating and added a dramatic flair to the experience. Walking along the wooden deck, we enjoyed the rhythmic crashing of waves against the structure and the fresh scent of the sea air.
Llandudno Pier maintains its traditional Victorian character, with colorful railings, vintage-style lampposts, and a variety of small shops and kiosks offering souvenirs, snacks, and treats. Even in winter, some stalls were open, giving the pier a lively and welcoming vibe.
We stopped for a cup of coffee at one of the pier's cafes. The warm drink was a perfect companion on such a chilly day, and we appreciated the friendly service and cozy indoor seating with sea views. It felt like a small sanctuary amid the brisk weather.
The pier also features some family-friendly attractions, such as arcade games and rides, but the highlight for us was simply taking in the stunning views and enjoying a leisurely walk. The wind only added to the charm of the experience, making us feel closer to the power and beauty of the sea.
Llandudno Pier is a must-visit destination, offering a delightful blend of history, scenery, and seaside charm. Whether you’re visiting on a calm summer day or a windy winter afternoon, it’s a place that leaves lasting impressions. Highly recommended for a relaxing...
Read moreOne of the best piers in the UK, in my opinion. It has amazing views of the victoriana resort of Llandudno. The only shame is the awful view of the beach solely of rocks . There is no sand, and it is so disappointing as Llandudno is such a beautiful seaside town, but without a sandy beach, it is not such a pleasant place to sit with children on a family day out. The pier has some small outlets of food , drink, fish and chip, and seafood and doughnut retail as you walk onto it, and lots of small souvenir retailers are scattered along the sides of the pier. There is a big wheel and various children's rides actually on the pier all at a fair price. At the end of the pier, there is an amusement arcade and a cafe and the usual collection of fishermen/women . The toilets are down the far end of the pier and can invove a bit of a walk through crowds if you are desperate. There is a disabled toilet too. This has always been awell-keptt pie, but in some place, it is looking like it needs a lock of paint or a bit of tlc . It is a lovely place to walk along the length of the pier down to the end. There are plenty of seats and places to rest and just enjoy the view. This pier always looks good from many angles for both the amateur and professional photographers. Worth a visit. Another great thing is NO ENTRANCE FEE at all. This pier is free to enter and enjoy....
