We dropped into Loaf looking for some late afternoon food on a wet Sunday.
Placed in a courtyard next to public parking its well located for easy access to the town (or should it be city) centre, but set back enough to not be slightly off the busy high street.
In the courtyard there is seating available should the weather permit, otherwise there is ample seating inside with a child’s play area in the corner to keep the kiddo’s entertained.
The menu is mainly breakfast and brunch based, with a selection of coffee, teas and soft drinks to choose from. If brunch or breakfast isn’t your thing then there is an array of cakes to choose from.
We had two breakfast, one big and the other biggest (I think that was the name). The quality of ingredients was very good, excellent bacon, eggs, mushroom and sourdough bread. At very tasty artisan breakfast!
The staff were great too. The chap manning the till was very welcoming and friendly, when he served our food he commented that if the eggs were done more than we prefer to let him know and they’ll change them... a lovely gesture.
Definitely worth a visit, we’ll be back next time we...
Read moreFirst visit as we normally go elsewhere in Wells. Nice setting, staff were friendly . Good range of gluten free food available and oat or almond milk. Not the cheapest of places these days for a family to visit, I understand costs are up but nearly £3 for a regular apple juice carton for a child when other cafes in Wells charge £1.50 is a bit steep. Not even chilled. Coke can at £3 again a bit on the high side but at least that was chilled. Cake at £4.80 makes it too pricey for a return as a tea and cake stop which is a shame. Spent just under £20 on 2 cups of tea, 1 apple juice carton a can of coke and two cakes. The main food menu looked good value and fairly priced with pizzas and gluten bases around £12 or so. The quality of food other dinners were eating during our visit looked very good and appealing and fairly priced.. Shame the kids food and drink is so expensive as it is overpriced for a tea and cake stop. Outdoor seating available and plenty of room inside. Worth a visit as everyone has their own budgets but this one is...
Read moreOn entering Loaf, the staff were very friendly. I was the only person eating in as it was a nice day outside and people were enjoying it ,in the seated area. I ordered my full English breakfast , a cup of tea and chose my table to sit down, as I waited for my meal. My table was not clean... dissapointing as this was early morning, and not busy. My breakfast arrived...this was ok, but the plate was chipped, and when I asked for salt and pepper, I was given small open bowls, and the salt and pepper had been used, as the bowls showed this evidence. I found my visit dissapointing to say the least, especially as one should be careful with serving, opened pre-used condiments with no covering . I don't have any chipped plates at home, so to find this in a restaurant with my meal on it...
