If I could give this place 0 stars then I would! My partner and I visited this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary as we have eaten here before and have been very happy however, we will not be returning after our most recent visit. The staff, especially the manager, showed absolutely no interest in us, they were more interested in chatting to a young couple and a group of young lads who are clearly friends with the staff. They were being loud and rowdy which ruined the atmosphere. Our food was extremely disappointing - my partner ordered a nearly £20 meal and it was smaller than my £12.50 meal. He got a poxy amount of flatbread which looked like it had been torn off a larger piece of flatbread, he got the smallest portion of chips and salad and he said it all tasted bland and was dry. For reference he ordered the Mediterranean Meze Grill priced at £19.50. We tried to catch the managers attention but she could not care about the customers. I emailed the day after our visit on 18th May but am yet to hear back. After speaking to family who have visited recently, they have emailed but have not heard back hence why I am leaving this review. In summary, the staff are rude, the food is bad and the atmosphere is that of a youth club. Do not visit here unless you want to be disappointed!!

Como can be many things depending on the day and time you go. It's good for morning coffee and cake, brunch, lunch or a relaxed evening meal. Take a look at the photos of the latest menus in my posted photos for an idea of what's on offer. My last visit was for a Sunday brunch, arriving at around 11.30. if you're okay with a "busy with kids" environment, go for it - there are lots of then around, and the associated noise that goes with them. We headed upstairs as most of the young ones were downstairs, but it wasn't long before the overspill find its way upstairs too. For me, it's not what I'm after, but I totally understand that for parents it can be great. Another downside of the busy-ness is that the food order took around 40 minutes to arrive (two basic brunches). Even a cappuccino and an Americano took over 15 minutes, so not great on that front either. That said, when it did arrive, it was good quality and generous sized options (again, see my photos). For me, looking for a child-free brunch, Como isn't a place I'll go back to. At other times, on other days of the week though, it caters to a different clientele, so you just need to pick your moment.

Food was fairly bland to begin with. However we were all served a stir fry with mouldy green beans in it. Not only that but egg noodles were served in the two vegan meals which is absolutely outrageous! The bartender also cut his hand opening a bottle of wine and proceeded to serve that wine to us. We then asked the manager what was going on and he went to check with the kitchen. Apparently thats how the chef cooks the beans, they are cooked in the morning and left out in warm water is exactly what we were told. Never even addressed the allergy issue! We were then told we were getting a refund and it would be back with us in a few days. This never happened. I rang up enquiring about this and was told they will look into it and then hung up, no details were requested. The whole cafe seems to be ran by very inexperienced people, including the manager that have no idea on food hygiene or protecting people with allergies or dietary requirements. Never had such bad service and such a lack of care / resolution. Will be reporting to food and trading standards!

I've been here a couple of times now with the kids and each time the service has been slow and food taken ages to arrive but this last visit today stood out for a few reasons... to the point I don't think I'll be coming back here again.

Firstly you have to order on your phone via a QR code at the table, and then tip the waiting staff up front before you've even experienced the service which is just annoying, largely cus of what came next.

Next up, the food (which was two kids meals and one burger, so not exactly stuff that needs much prep time) took half an hour to arrive from the time the order went in to when it turned up at the table. We ordered a kids margarita pizza, some kids chicken nuggets and a house burger. How can it take 30 whole minutes to produce this? The place was nearly empty too which made this even more annoying.

Thirdly, I ordered the humous carrot dips for the kids who were hungry cus it was late.. but the waiting staff didn't have the initiative to bring this out while we were waiting half an hour for the meal... why not? this is basic stuff.

the drinks took ages to arrive too. why / how? the place was nearly empty and we ordered apple juices!

Then when the meal finally arrived, the kids pizza my son ordered was without doubt the worst looking and tasting pizza I've ever come across: dry, mildly burnt and without any love. fresh out of a plastic vacuum pac (although I wasn't able to express out loud what I really thought cus we didn't have time to send the food back having already waited half an hour and we had stuff to do after lunch, so I remained as positive as I could). The chips were luke warm like they'd been sitting on the counter for .. about half an hour, and the chip portions were so measly in both the kids dishes and main menu dish I ordered I honestly thought they'd used the wrong bowl to serve them...

Decent food and good service by one of the waiters bit something odd happened during my visit...

There was a huge queue and I patiently waited in it to order food and drinks for me and the family. I ordered a beer and upon payment, realised I had left my wallet at the table. I ran back to get it and came back to the counter where the girl serving appeared to be pouring a shandy as I saw lemonade before she poured the beer. I naturally assumed this was someone else.

When she have it to me I was a little perplexed and asked her if this was a shandy to which she said no. I grabbed the rest of the drinks and walked back to the table to sample my long awaited beer and sure enough, there was lemonade in it.

I despise shandys so then had to rejoin the even longer queue to go back and request a new pint, the whole time crossing her gaze as I could tell she knew why i was back in the queue. I asked her why she put lemonade in it even though I queried it initially and she fobbed me off with an excuse that the beer must have been sat in the line. The place was busy and the guys before me ordered the same beer so this was blatantly not the case.

All very strange. Now I'm not sure if she is skimming beer to make up for lost stock or having a little scam on but she was obviously caught out and then tried to backtrack. Not impressed and management should check to see if this is...
